𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗧𝗜&𝗘) 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗸𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻

As part of its continuing commitment to health promotion and disease prevention, the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻–𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 (𝗖𝗚𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗦-𝗘𝗩) spearheaded a Troops Information and Education (TI&E) session on Dengue and Chikungunya for personnel of the Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV) and its Operational Control (OPCON) Units.

The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of Coast Guard personnel on the causes, signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention, and early management of dengue and chikungunya. Emphasis was placed on the importance of environmental sanitation, the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵'𝘀 𝟰𝗦 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆, and the early recognition of warning signs to reduce the risk of severe illness and prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

Following the information session, CGMEDS-EV also initiated a 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 at the CGDEV Barracks in Cabalawan, where personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the area to identify and eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites. The activity included the removal of stagnant water from containers, proper disposal of water-holding materials, and cleanup of the surrounding environment to minimize the risk of Aedes mosquito breeding.

These initiatives highlight the proactive commitment of CGMEDS-EV to strengthening 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑐𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑠𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛. By combining health education with immediate vector control measures, CGMEDS-EV continues to promote a safer and healthier living environment, ensuring that personnel of CGDEV and its OPCON Units remain ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ𝑦, 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛-𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦.

🩸❤️ WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY 2026 ❤️🩸
In celebration of World Blood Donor Day, the Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV), Coast Guard Station Eastern Leyte (CGSEL), Coast Guard Medical Station Eastern Visayas (CGMEDS-EV), and the Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit Eastern Visayas (CGNSSU-EV) proudly demonstrated their active participation and unwavering support through the PCG iCARE Program, in partnership with Divine Word Hospital, Tacloban City.
This meaningful initiative reflects the Philippine Coast Guard's steadfast commitment to compassion, volunteerism, and humanitarian service beyond the call of duty. Through the selfless act of blood donation, participating personnel contributed to ensuring a sufficient supply of lifesaving blood for patients and communities in need.
The success of this activity highlights the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in promoting public health and saving lives. Guided by the principles of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (iCARE), the Philippine Coast Guard continues to extend its service from safeguarding our seas to caring for the well-being of the Filipino people.

𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒏 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒖𝒔

The Coast Guard Medical Service reminds all personnel to remain vigilant following reports of Hantavirus infection aboard the cruise ship MV Hondius. Based on current updates, Filipino crew members onboard have tested negative, and no Hantavirus cases have been recorded in the Philippines to date.

Hantavirus is a rodent-borne disease that may be transmitted through contact with contaminated rodent urine, droppings, or saliva. Symptoms may include fever, body aches, fatigue, cough, and difficulty breathing.

To prevent possible infection, everyone is advised to maintain cleanliness in living and working areas, properly store food and dispose of waste, avoid dry sweeping or vacuuming areas with possible rodent contamination, practice frequent handwashing, use appropriate PPE when cleaning, and immediately report symptoms or suspected exposure.

While the current risk remains low, strict observance of sanitation, hygiene, and early reporting protocols is essential, especially in maritime operations.

• 45°C: Isabela, Tarlac, and Agusan Del Norte are under extreme heat.
• 44°C: Cagayan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Iloilo, and Bohol.
• 42°C-43°C: Wide areas including Metro Manila, Pangasinan, and much of the Visayas and Mindanao.
