Tabango, Leyte - June 10, 2026 - To strengthen local disaster preparedness and community resilience, the Tabango Fire Station Personnel, under the leadership of SFO2 Samuel B Moralita Jr. OIC Municipal Fire Marshal took part in a comprehensive Multi-Hazard Simulation Exercise in Barangay Tugas at 10:30 AM yesterday, June 9.
The large-scale earthquake drill was organized by the Americares Philippines International Non Government Organization and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tabango, led by Municipal Mayor Hon. Maria Corazon E. Remandaban, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
The realistic simulation featured a complex earthquake scenario involving multiple casualties. First responders tackled intensive search and rescue missions, rapid evacuations, emergency medical triage, and real-time incident management.
Achieving seamless cooperation on the ground, the operation brought together the MLGOO, Rural Health Unit (RHU), Tabango Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Municipal Engineering Office, Brgy. Tugas officials, Experts from the Provincial DRRMO (PDRRMO) and local media monitored the exercise as official evaluators.
The successful drill proved the town's ability to mount a synchronized, inter-agency response under the Incident Command System (ICS), ensuring Tabango is ready to protect its citizens when it matters most.
