On May 14, 2026,Mr. Ernesto Borja Quiñonez Jr. ., Municipal Population Officer (MPO) Designate of the Local Government Unit of Gigaquit, conducted a courtesy call and coordination meeting with the thirteen (13) Punong Barangays of the municipality. The activity aimed to strengthen coordination between the Municipal Population Office and the barangay officials in relation to population management programs and community-based initiatives.
During the courtesy call, Mr. Quiñonez discussed and followed up the status of the updating of the Registry of Barangay Inhabitants and Migrants (RBIMs) in each barangay. The Punong Barangays were reminded of the importance of maintaining updated and accurate demographic records to support planning, policy formulation, and the delivery of basic services within their respective communities. Barangay officials also shared the current progress and challenges encountered in the conduct of the updating activities.
Additionally, advance information regarding the upcoming Barangay Population Volunteer (BPV) Meeting was presented and discussed. The Punong Barangays were informed about the tentative schedule, objectives, and expected participation of barangay population volunteers. The meeting is intended to strengthen the role of BPVs in the implementation of population and development programs at the barangay level and to enhance coordination mechanisms between the Municipal Population Office and the volunteers.
