The SDO of Surigao City proudly participated in the Regional Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Program Implementation Review (PIR) and Collaborative Session with the Division Consultative and Advisory Bodies (DCAB) held on January 21โ€“23, 2026 in Butuan City, bringing with it not only representation but the collective story of its IPEd journey. โค๏ธ We also showcased our Quality Assured Learning Resources for Bajau and Mamanwa Learners.

Today, we also held an immersion activity at the Mamanwa Village in Sitio Tagbasingan, Barangay Mat-i, Surigao City.

We are truly honored to be welcomed by the Mamanwa community, to listen to their stories, witness their cultural practices, and gain insights on how we can better contextualize our lessons to respect and reflect their rich heritage. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

๐ŸŒ„โœจ Day 2 | Division Training on Revised K to 12 Curriculum for IPEd Component

Todayโ€™s training continued to inspire our IPEd Advocates as they deepened their understanding of the Indigenous Learning System, Indigenous Knowledge System and Practices (IKSP), and Multiple Intelligences.

With the insightful discussions led by Maโ€™am Rosalie C. Eludo and Sir Arnel P. Marte, participants were reminded that education should be holistic, experiential, and rooted in the culture and realities of our IP learners. ๐Ÿ’›

Thank you to our speakers, the Technical Working Group, the four IPEd implementing schools, our resource persons, welfare officer, M&E team, and to our venue and food providers for making this Day 2 productive and meaningful for all.

Together, let us continue to create learning spaces that honor, embrace, and empower our Indigenous Peoples learners.

Today marks a meaningful start as our IPEd teachers and coordinators gathered to deepen their understanding of the IP Situationer, focusing on our beloved Mamanwa and Badjao communities. ๐Ÿ’›

With the inspiring discussion from Dr. Marino L. Pamogas, we were reminded that education should embrace, honor, and uplift our IP learners, never erase their roots. Watching The Katutubo Video moved us to continue our mission with purpose and compassion.

The Indigenous Peoples Education Program (IPEd) โ€“ Surigao City joyfully congratulates Maryjena B. Sapayani, a proud Badjao and former IPEd learner, for successfully passing the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET)! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ

Maryjena, a graduate of St. Jude Thaddeus Institute of Technology โ€“ Surigao City with a Bachelor of Elementary Education, continues to break barriers and inspire as she reaches this significant professional milestone. Her success is a powerful testament to the resilience, dedication, and determination of our Indigenous learners.
