The Surallah Municipal Rotonda, locally known as the “Roundball,” stands today as one of the most iconic landmarks in the region, symbolizing the municipality’s identity, unity, and continuing progress. More than just a central roadway structure, the rotonda has become a significant cultural and historical landmark that reflects the story and development of the people of Surallah through the years.

A photo taken in 1994 captures the early appearance of the municipal rotonda before its transformation into the prominent landmark it is today. The size and original base of the rotonda were carefully preserved, maintaining the integrity of its original structure.

In 2011, under the visionary leadership of the late Mayor, The Honorable Romulo Solivio Sr., the Tri-People Monument was inaugurated at the center of the rotonda. The cultural structure was established as a symbol of immense pride, harmony, and hope for the preservation, practice, and patronage of the rich cultural heritage of Surallah and the entire province of South Cotabato. Representing the unity of the Indigenous Peoples, Christians, and Muslims, the monument stands as a powerful reminder of the shared history, traditions, and aspirations that continue to shape the municipality.

As the municipality of Surallah continues to progress toward a more vibrant and prosperous future, the Surallah Municipal Rotonda remains a silent witness to its journey, steadfastly reflecting the resilience, heritage, unity, and enduring spirit of the Surallahnons.

The Allah Valley Airport was constructed in 1947 by the National Development Company, covering portions of former Barrio 11 and Barrio 10 of Banga, areas that are now known as Barangay Libertad and Barangay Centrala in Surallah.

Established to support agricultural and developmental initiatives in Banga Settlement District, the airport served as a critical transportation link for government personnel, equipment, and technical operations. Commercial and chartered flights were later introduced by Philippine Airlines, providing direct connectivity between Surallah and major cities such as Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo.

The airport features a single asphalt runway measuring approximately 1,339.9 meters in length and 30 meters in width, designed to accommodate small to medium-sized aircraft. In 1987, operations were suspended to allow for runway rehabilitation and the installation of perimeter fencing to improve safety and security conditions. However, despite these enhancements, flight operations were eventually discontinued due to safety concerns arising from obstructions, including nearby vegetation and encroaching residential structures.

To date, despite no longer being operational for commercial flights, the Allah Valley Airport remains under the management and supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

The establishment of Allah Valley Airport marks a significant milestone in the historical and economic development of Surallah. It enhanced regional accessibility, stimulated local economic activity, and positioned the municipality as the only locality in South Cotabato with its own airport facility. Although no longer operational for commercial aviation, the airport remains a vital heritage landmark—symbolizing the municipality’s progress and continuing to shape its historical identity.
