Yesterday, LGU Sumilao led by Mayor Venice Marie “Nice” Villo held a consultative meeting on the planned purchase of property in Poblacion for the future University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) – Sumilao Campus. 🏫

Present during the discussion were:

- Atty. Murillo as LGU’s legal consultant
- Our Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Jim
- Our Finance Department
- The representative of the Suarez family (owners of the property)

This step is crucial as we work to bring accessible and quality higher education closer to home. Together, we are laying the groundwork for opportunities that will uplift our youth and future generations.

✨ ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR SUMILAO! ✨

This afternoon, LGU Sumilao led by Mayor Venice Marie “Nice” Villo, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), released ₱1,640,000 worth of livelihood grants to our local associations! 💼🌱

Larok Mixed 4Ps SLPA – Egg Production

Mayor Nice Villo personally attended today’s Hatod Serbisyo in Barangay Puntian, continuing her commitment to bring government services closer to the people of Sumilao.

Through the Hatod Serbisyo program, essential services from the LGU and partner agencies were delivered directly to the community—making it more convenient for residents to access assistance and programs without having to travel far.

Mayor Villo expressed her gratitude to the barangay officials, volunteers, and residents of Puntian for their warm welcome and active participation. She emphasized that this initiative reflects her administration’s goal of ensuring that government is always accessible, present, and responsive to the needs of the people.

1. What courses are available at USTP-Sumilao?

Answer: Currently, we are offering a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Major in Crop Science.

2. Do I have to visit the SYDO to apply?

Answer: Yes, we highly encourage you to apply in person at the SYDO. This helps us track the number of applicants and arrange transportation for the entrance exam. Plus, our staff will assist you in the online application process.

3. What if I already applied online?

Answer: If you completed the online application, please visit the SYDO to confirm your submission. This is necessary for the LGU to assist you with your enrollment process.

4. What if I live in a far-flung barangay?

Answer: The USTP Student Organization, SYDO, and SK Sumilao will visit high schools to assist students. Prepare your documents in advance and wait for their visit.

4. Selection of Top 95 Scholars – The top 95 students who pass the exam will be awarded the LGU Scholarship.

Sugod karong adlawa, ipatuman sa kontraktor ang alternate nga rota paingon sa Poblacion, diin ang tanang sakyanan moagi sa Bang-Bang road imbes sa kasagarang main road. Bisan pa man nga dili ilawom sa direktang pagdumala sa LGU ang maong proyekto, gisiguro sa lokal nga panggamhanan nga masayud ug updated ang katawhan sa mga kalambuan niini.

Nakasabot ang LGU sa kahasol nga dala sa pagbalhin sa rota, busa gipahimangnoan na ang kontraktor nga paspasan ug tarungon ang ilang gisaad nga pag-ayo sa dalan aron mapagaan ang biyahe sa publiko.

Gusto usab ipasabot sa LGU nga wala kini’y awtoridad sa pagpanghilabot sa operasyon sa proyekto aron malikayan ang kalangan sa trabaho ug likayan ang mga posibleng kalisod sa implementasyon. Apan, padayon ang LGU sa pakigkoordinar sa kontraktor aron maseguro nga hapsay ug luwas ang alternate nga rota alang sa tanan.

Ang desisyon sa kontraktor nga ipaagi ang trapiko sa alternate nga rota imbes sa pagpatuman og go/stop system gibase sa seguridad. Ang kasamtangang trabahoan nga dalan kay daplin sa pangpang, adunay naglihok nga bug-at nga mga equipment, ug posible usab ang landslide tungod sa kusog nga ulan ug pag-excavate sa yuta.

Nagasabot ang LGU nga kini nga kahimtang makaapekto sa mga negosyo ug adlaw-adlaw nga biyahe sa katawhan. Apan, kini nga temporaryong kalisod magresulta sa mas maayong dalan ug mas luwas nga pagbiyahe sa umaabot.

Ginaawhag sa LGU ang katawhan sa pagsinabtanay ug kooperasyon sa panahon sa pagtrabaho sa proyekto. Sa atong panaghiusa ug pagsabot, mas dali nato makab-ot ang kalampusan ug kaayohan nga magpabilin alang sa tanan.
