PARROT FISH ARE IMPORTANT!!

i feel sorry for the parrot fishes! Yes this fish can be eaten, but for us divers this is a big No No!!! There are important reasons why we should not eat them and we should educate the fishermen to stop catching these beautiful fish! Please do spare them ... the ocean needs them to regenerate. Read below to be educated. They're lots of fish you can catch in the sea. They can sell and cook the other fish, but leave the parrot fish!

Here is why:

Parrotfish eat algae and dead coral. They spend up to 90% of their day nibbling. In other words, they clean the reef. This is important because most of the reefs across the tropics are being smothered by algae because there are not enough parrotfish and other herbivores out there grazing.

After all that eating, get this: They p**p fine white sand – lots of it! Each parrotfish produces up to 320 kilograms (700 pounds) of sand each year.

Their numbers are so depleted, and algae levels are so high, that they cannot be fished sustainably right now anywhere in the Caribbean. These flamboyant, algae-eating, sand-p**ping fish need to be left in the water. And when they are left to chomp away, they do a brilliant job. A massive new report concludes that reefs where parrotfish were abundant in the 1980s are the reefs that are healthy now.

There is a reason for their existence so please let's not eat them ... Say no to catching parrot fish!

MAY 15: Feast of St. Isidore (San Isidro Labrador)

Isidore was born in Madrid, Spain, and farming was to be his labor, working for the same landowner his whole life. While he walked the fields, plowing, planting, and harvesting, he also prayed. As a hardworking man, Isidore had three great loves: God, his family, and the soil. He and his wife Maria, who is also honored as a saint, proved to all their neighbors that poverty, hard work, and sorrow (their only child died as little boy) cannot destroy human happiness if we accept them with faith and in union with Christ. Isidore understood clearly that, without soil, the human race cannot exist too long. The insight may explain why he always had such a reverent attitude toward his work as a farmer.

Isidore and Maria were known for their love of the poor. Often they brought food to poor, hungry persons and prayed with them. During his lifetime, Isidore had the gift of miracles. If he was late for work because he went to Mass, an angel was seen plowing for him. More than once he fed hungry people with food that seemed to multiply miraculously. He died after a peaceful life of hard labor and charity.

Important Advisory‼️

Pursuant to RA 11332 "Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events and Public Health Concerns Act" The Hermanidad 2020 would like to inform that all events pertaining to the fiesta is cancelled. In response to extended Enhanced Community Quarantine Order and due to lack of preparation and fear of COVID-19 Pandemic.

We would like to reiterate that the health and well-being of our fellow Estehanons, Balikbayans, Participants, Sponsors and specially our Children and Elders, Family and Friends is of utmost importance to us. The point of the proposed postponement of the fiesta and Hermanidad is that we are still alive and healthy when the ECQ is lifted, until we could finally say that the Pandemic is over, that our country and the world is COVID-19 free.

We continue the intercession of our Patron Saint Isidore De Labrador and all the saints in these uncertain times.

🔷 15th PARAUMA FESTIVAL

WHEN: MAY 14, 2020
WHERE: Brgy. San Isidro, Sulat Eastern Samar "MAYTIGBAO" covered court.
WHO:
▪️The festival is open to all participating groups representing your Barangay or town.
▪️There will be a maximum of five (5) competing groups. First come first served basis or until slots left.

HOW: Please DM or email us at [email protected] or look for kgwd. Junjun Lopiga for registrations.

MECHANICS:

🔸 Street Dancing during the grand parade
🔸 Dance Exhibition with minimum of 10 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes.
🔸 Live instruments only (recorded music will be disqualified)
🔸 Number of members per group shall have minimum of 25pax maximum of 35pax.
🔸 Call time 12NN (should have lunch already before the parade) at Maytigbao Plaza.

CRITERIA:

🔹25% - Performance (Rhythm, Ex*****on, Transition, Mastery and Coordination)
🔹25% - Choreography (Synchronisation, Formation, Creativity and Artistry)
🔹20% Relevance (Appropriateness of Storyline movements)
