Starting today, we celebrate the National Flag Days by displaying our National Flag in our homes, schools, and offices in celebration of our nation’s independence.

Ceremonies will be held throughout the country, especially in the following sites:
πŸ“Œ Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat, Alapan, Imus City, Cavite (with City Government of Imus)
πŸ“Œ Rizal Park Luneta, Ermita, Manila (with National Parks Development Committee and Salute To A Clean Flag Movement)
πŸ“Œ NHCP Museo nina Marcela MariΓ±o at Felipe Agoncillo, Taal, Batangas (with Municipality of TAAL)
πŸ“Œ Samonte Park, Cavite City, Cavite (in the afternoon, with City Government of Cavite)

May 28 was selected as the start of the National Flag Days as it is the anniversary of the Battle of Alapan. Filipino revolutionary forces under the overall command of General Emilio Aguinaldo, who returned from exile on 18 May 1898, defeated a large Spanish force at the field of Alapan, Imus, Cavite. In celebration of the victory, Aguinaldo unfurled and showed to the Filipino people for the first time the new National Flag made by Marcela MariΓ±o de Agoncillo in Hong Kong at the Teatro CaviteΓ±o in Cavite City.

The new flag, which featured the red and blue fields with a white triangle superimposed by a sun with eight rays and three stars, would become the Flag of the Philippine nation and is the basis for our present-day standard.

6 MINORS RESCUED IN MANILA AS PNP STEPS UP CAMPAIGN VS ONLINE ABUSE OF CHILDREN

A swift and coordinated law enforcement operation led by the Philippine National Police–Women and Children Protection Center (PNP-WCPC), in partnership with the Anti-Cybercrime Group, Manila Police District, Manila City Social Welfare and Development Office, and barangay officials, resulted in the rescue of six minors and the arrest of a suspect in an Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) case on May 14, 2026.

Acting on validated international and national cyber intelligence referrals through the INTERPOL International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) Database and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tipline, operatives secured a court-issued Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data prior to the operation.

The rescued minors, aged 4 to 14, include one child-at-risk. A 23-year-old male suspect, known by the alias β€œJay,” was arrested during the operation. Investigators noted his connection as a cousin and neighbor of one of the victims.

Digital devices recovered from the suspect were subjected to initial forensic examination, which indicated the presence of child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Appropriate charges were subsequently filed under Republic Act No. 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act.

The suspect remains under the custody of the PNP-WCPC Luzon Field Unit, while the rescued minors are under the care of social welfare authorities for psychosocial support and recovery.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasized that the operation reflects the organization’s continuing commitment to decisive and compassionate policing. β€œHindi tayo titigil hangga’t may mga batang nangangailangan ng proteksyon. Every rescue is a reminder that our duty goes beyond enforcementβ€”it is about saving lives and restoring safety,” he said.

The successful operation aligns with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, strengthening intelligence-driven coordination and rapid response against cyber-enabled crimes. It likewise supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to intensify government action against crimes that exploit vulnerable sectors, particularly children.

The PNP reiterates its strong warning against all forms of online child exploitation and assures the public of sustained operations to hold offenders accountable. Guided by its renewed direction, the organization stands firm in advancing a safer digital and physical environment under the banner of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP-ACG, INTER-AGENCY TEAM SHUT DOWN ONLINE INVESTMENT FRAUD HUB IN PASIG CITY; 63 NABBED

A major cyber enforcement operation led by the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), in close coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Department of Justice – Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OOC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Pasig City local government, resulted in the dismantling of a suspected large-scale online investment scam hub operating in Pasig City.

The operation was conducted on May 20, 2026 through the implementation of a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data, leading to the arrest of 63 individuals, including a 55-year-old foreign national identified by the alias β€œBoss,” believed to have played a key leadership role in the scheme.

Authorities uncovered an organized online operation that presented itself as a legitimate call center and investment assistance company. Victims were reportedly drawn in through online advertisements and messaging platforms and later encouraged to invest in a trading scheme under the name β€œXTRADE,” where individuals posing as financial advisers maintained constant communication to sustain deposits and manage account activity.

Further investigation showed that the operation was highly structured, with assigned roles for online promotion, client engagement, and retention efforts, all designed to simulate legitimate investment activity. Verification with regulators confirmed that the entities involved were not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and had no authority to solicit investments from the public.

The case was triggered by multiple complaints from individuals who reported significant financial losses after being engaged through persistent online messaging and deceptive investment presentations.

Authorities also confirmed that the foreign national tagged as β€œBoss” has an existing warrant of arrest issued by a Pasig City Regional Trial Court involving multiple tax-related charges. The warrant was served during custodial procedures on May 25, 2026.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., underscored the importance of sustained and coordinated action against evolving cyber fraud schemes.

β€œThese groups are becoming more sophisticated in how they operate online, but our law enforcement response is also becoming faster, sharper, and more united,” the PGen Nartatez. β€œHindi tayo papayag na patuloy na maloko at mabiktima ang ating mga kababayan. The PNP, together with our partner agencies, will continue to act with urgency and resolve.”

Cyber-related cases have been filed against arrested individuals.

The operation supports the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, reinforcing intelligence-led coordination and inter-agency convergence in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify efforts against cyber-enabled financial crimes and protect the investing public.

Guided by the principle β€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” the PNP remains firm in its commitment to disrupt online fraud networks and safeguard the public from deceptive digital schemes.
