BRIEF HISTORY OF SIDECO

It was composed of seven (7) Primary cooperatives and One Hundred Six (106) Samahang Nayon and later on it was registered as Sorsogon Integrated Development Cooperative (SIDECO) under Reg. A. 6938, the Federation was able to comply the requirements of CDA and was officially recognized as the Provincial Federation of Agricultural and Non-Agricultural Cooperatives under Confirmation No. 186 dated Jan. 23,1991. Membership in SIDECO is open to all Primary Cooperatives with economic activities duly incorporated under the laws of the Philippines, operating under the cooperative principles and practices located within its area of operation. All applicants for membership to SIDECO is required to accomplish the prescribed application form together with a Board Resolution signifying their intention to be an affiliate of SIDECO is required to accomplish the prescribed application form together with a Board Resolution signifying their intention to be an affiliate of SIDECO. SIDECO accept Associate Members for individual person and registered organization without voting rights but could avail the services of SIDECO. The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office Unit No. V recognized SIDECO for its persistent efforts in evolving ways and means to generate resources, for continuously providing the need of the cooperative members and extending services to the community thus living up to its mandated goals and objectives. Last December 20, 2001, SIDECO captured the Regional Gawad Saka Award and became an Outstanding Small Farmer Organization for CY – 2000-2001. The SIDECO initiative to be the leading federation of Cooperative in the Province of Sorsogon if not in the whole region is a continuing undertakings as such, its success is benchmarked on the total satisfaction of its member – clienteles thru maximum service effectiveness and efficiency. The business name of SIDECO was change into SIDECO (SOUTH-LUZON FEDERATION OF COOPERATIVES) through amendments and was approved by the CDA, on March 29, 2011.
