Thursday, 04 June 2026 --- As part of the effort to ensure water safety for both teachers and learners of the Sorsogon Pilot Elementary School this upcoming school year, Sorsogon City Water District Senior Laboratory Technician Charmaine M. Hilis RMT also tested the water for disinfectant residual via the seven (7) newly-installed faucets during SCWD and PrimeWater Sorsogon City, Sorsogon participation to the 2026 Brigada Eskwela Program today, 04 June.

All results were compliant to the 0.3 to 1.5 ppm requirement of the 2017 Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water, with values of 1.22, 0.56, 1.45, 0.74, 1.34, 0.60 and 0.90 ppm.

Thursday, 04 June 2026 --- Sorsogon City Water District and PrimeWater Sorsogon City, Sorsogon joined the 2026 Brigada Eskwela Program at the Sorsogon Pilot Elementary School, Brgy. Talisay, Sorsogon City today.

Four (4) SCWD and four (4) PrimeWater staff assisted the school in the minor repair of leakages and the installation/ replacement of ten (10) plastic faucets at seven (7) classrooms and one (1) handwashing station.

SPES is one of the biggest schools in the City of Sorsogon, and is set to welcome back 2,500+ learners and 100+ teachers during the opening of school year 2026-2027 on Monday, 08 June.

SCWD provided and donated the materials for the repair and maintenance works, while PrimeWater's provided the labor component for the activity, which is line with SCWD's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Gender and Development (GAD) advocacies.

SCWD's contingent was composed of Engr. Alejandro L. Alama, Annabelle V. Ancheta, Charmaine M. Hilis RMT and Renato M. Lirio, while PrimeWater Sorsogon City, Sorsogon was bannered by Engr. Jerome J. Buen and maintenance staff Ferdinand R. Carag, Argie Jetajobe and Benedict D. Tabuena.

School Principal IV Neleuterio E. Dellosa thanked SCWD and PrimeWater for their active participation in this year's School Maintenance Week, which is scheduled from 01 June to 05 June.

Aminado si General Manager Eduardo Tejada ng Sorsogon City Water District na sa kabila ng sapat na suplay ng tubig ang naibibigay sa Sorsogon City ay mayroon pa ring pinagdadaanan na shortage o kakulangan ng suplay ng spring water sa west portion ng Lungsod.

Ayon kay Tejada, bagama’t nakakapag-produce umano ng spring water ang west portion ng Sorsogon City ay nararanasan pa rin umano ngayong taon ang 40% o higit pang pagbaba ng suplay ng tubig sa nasabing lugar.

Dahil dito, pinagpapalanuhan umano na gamitin ang Cawayan river bilang source ng surface water, gayundin ang rason na hindi na reliable ang spring at ang quality ng mga deep well.

Sa ngayon, mayroon na umanong nasa humigit-kumulang 14,000 consumer ang ahensya, kung kaya’t hinimok nila ang bawat konsyumer na iulat ang posibleng leakage sa lugar at kung may impormasyon ukol sa iligal na koneksyon sa tubig.

Matatandaang, napuno ng reklamo ang Prime Water Sorsogon City sa social media dahil sa matinding kawalan ng suplay ng tubig sa lugar, na tiniyak naman ng ahensya na nagkakaroon na sila ng mga hakbang upang ito ay maresobhahan.
