PRO 5 LAUNCHES MANHUNT, INTENSIFIES UNABATED OPERATIONS AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT IN GUINOBATAN, ALBAY
The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5), through the Albay Police Provincial Office, has launched a thorough and in-depth investigation following a shooting incident that occurred at around 8:15 AM on March 6, 2026, along Ofracio Street, Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion, Guinobatan, Albay.
According to the initial report, a concerned citizen alerted authorities regarding a shooting incident involving two victims, including a 33-year-old Indian national, with the alias “Bombay,” who was reportedly collecting payments from a vendor when he was suddenly shot by an unidentified male assailant. The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at a medical facility.
A second victim, identified by the alias “Bob,” a bystander in the area, was also struck by a stray bullet during the incident and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Immediately upon receiving the report, personnel from the Guinobatan MPS, headed by PLTCOL Joseph A Imperial, Chief of Police, were promptly dispatched to the scene to secure the area, assist the victims, and initiate the investigation. The Scene of the Crime Operatives conducted crime-scene processing, documentation, and collection of physical evidence that may aid in identifying the perpetrator.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police investigators are conducting an extensive review and collection of CCTV footage from establishments, residences, and nearby areas along the possible route of the suspect before and after the incident. These recordings are being carefully analyzed to track the suspect’s movement and identify possible accomplices.
Authorities are also conducting interviews with witnesses, vendors, residents, and other individuals who may have been present at the time of the incident to gather crucial information that may lead to the immediate identification and arrest of the suspect.
To prevent the suspect’s escape and ensure public safety, PRO 5, through the Albay PPO and Regional Intelligence Division 5 operatives, has launched unabated manhunt operations, with continuous checkpoint and chokepoint deployments, intensified police visibility, hot pursuit operations, and intelligence monitoring in areas where the suspect may attempt to hide. These unrelenting and continuous operations are being recorded and reported to ensure transparency and demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the PRO 5 in pursuing the perpetrator.
The unit is also closely coordinating with barangay officials, local government units, and community members to gather additional information that may aid in the investigation and accelerate the suspect’s apprehension.
The PRO 5, headed by PBGEN Erosito N Miranda, Regional Director, strongly condemns this senseless act of violence and assures the public that all necessary police resources and investigative capabilities are being mobilized to pursue the perpetrator.
“We assure the families of the victims and the community that PRO 5 will leave no stone unturned in this investigation. We are fully committed to ensuring that the suspect will be identified, arrested, and brought before the bar of justice,” said PBGEN Miranda.
The unit also calls on anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses CCTV recordings or other information relevant to the case to immediately report to the nearest police station or coordinate with local authorities. Community cooperation remains vital in bringing the suspect to justice.
PRO 5 remains steadfast in its commitment to maintain peace and order, protect the community, and ensure that justice is served for the victims of crime. It will continue to deliver Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman, while relentlessly conducting unabated manhunt operations in coordination with Albay PPO and RID 5
operatives to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspect.
