The Office of Health Services and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of the Local Government Unit of Sogod, led by Hon. Mayor Sheffered Lino S. Tan, was invited by the Barangay Local Government Unit of San Miguel to conduct a Teenage Pregnancy Awareness Symposium at the San Miguel Multipurpose Covered Court, with adolescents of Barangay San Miguel as participants.

Ms. Christine Junna C. Recto, SWD III and GAD Focal Person, discussed “Empowering the Youth: Teenage Pregnancy Awareness,” while Ms. Marianne Jennifer Gan Paulo, HNS of Sogod Bay Interlocal Health Zone, shared valuable insights on Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness, Mental Health Support, and Life Goals.

The symposium provided adolescents with an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and gain knowledge that can help them make informed and responsible choices for their health, well-being, and future. 🌱

Bangladesh is battling its worst measles outbreak on record, with 999 suspected and confirmed measles-related deaths and more than 166,000 suspected cases reported since March.

The crisis has been driven by gaps in routine vaccination, vaccine supply problems and missed immunisation campaigns in 2024 and 2025, leaving thousands of children vulnerable to the highly contagious disease.

More than 146,000 suspected patients have been hospitalised, placing already-overcrowded hospitals under immense pressure as dengue cases surge at the same time.

An emergency measles-rubella campaign has vaccinated more than 19.7 million children, but health experts warn that stronger routine immunisation and catch-up vaccination are urgently needed to close immunity gaps.

Measles is preventable with vaccination, yet families are now facing packed hospitals, treatment shortages and heartbreaking uncertainty as children bear the worst of the outbreak.

Hindangan, pinaagi sa paghatag og libre ug importanteng mga bakuna alang sa mga bata aron mapanalipdan sila batok sa mga sakit nga mahimong malikayan pinaagi sa immunization.

Ang regular nga pagpabakuna makatabang sa paghatag og lig-on nga proteksyon sa mga bata. Gidasig ang tanang ginikanan ug tig-atiman nga siguraduhon nga kompleto ug nasunod sa hustong iskedyul ang mga bakuna sa ilang mga anak. 💉👶

The Local Government Unit of Sogod led by Hon. Mayor Sheffered Lino S. Tan, through the Rural Health Unit and Birthing Facility, joins the observance of World Su***de Prevention Day on September 10 and Su***de Prevention Awareness Month this entire month of September.

This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Su***de,” reminds us that prevention begins with changing how we talk, listen, and respond to conversations about mental health.
Starting the conversation does not always require the perfect words.

Sometimes, a simple “Kumusta ka?”, a listening ear, and genuine understanding can help someone feel seen, heard, and cared for. 💜

Let’s help create a community where people feel safe to speak, comfortable to seek support, and reminded that they matter. Let’s talk, listen, support, include, and give hope—not only this September, but every day. 🩵
