BACOLOD DRUG DEN SHUT DOWN: PDEA-LED OPERATION YIELDS 4 ARRESTED SUSPECTS

On September 2, 2026, at about 2:30 PM, a successful buy-bust operation was conducted at Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City, resulting in the dismantling of a drug den and the arrest of four individuals.

The operation was led by the PDEA Regional Office-Negros Island Region Regional Special Enforcement Team, together with PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-NIR, and PNP Bacolod City Police Office.

Arrested during the operation were alias "Randy", 36, identified as the maintainer of the drug den; alias "Grace", 51, identified as an employee; alias "Ariel", 31, and alias "Ricardo", 25, both identified as visitors of the den.

Authorities recovered 11 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 12 grams with a standard market value of ₱81,600.

Also recovered were the buy bust money, three improvised glass tooters, six assorted lighters, and one black coin purse.

The arrested individuals are set to face charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

RESURGENT DRUG PERSONALITY ARRESTED IN SIQUIJOR BUY-BUST

On September 2, 2026, at around 11:17 AM, a buy-bust operation conducted by the PDEA RO-Negros Island Region (NIR) Siquijor Provincial Office, in coordination with the Lazi Municipal Police Station, resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old drug personality in Brgy. Cangclaran, Lazi, Siquijor. The suspect reportedly returned to his old ways despite having previously undergone the Balay Silangan Reformation program.

The arrested individual was identified as alias "John", a mechanic and resident of Brgy. Tigbawan, Lazi, Siquijor.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of two sachets of suspected shabu with a total estimated weight of approximately 0.46 grams, with a standard market value of ₱3,128.

Also recovered during the operation were the buy-bust money, one mobile phone, one motorcycle with key, a driver's license, and an empty cigarette pack.

The arrested individual is set to face charges for violation of Sections 5, 11, and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA PROMOTES DRUG PREVENTION AWARENESS AMONG CPAC STUDENTS IN MURCIA

On September 6, 2026, PDEA RO NIR-NOCPO conducted Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) Lectures for the NSTP students of Central Philippines Adventist College in Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The first session was held at 9:00 a.m., represented by Agent Romeby Joy Sailog, Chief PECI, while the second session was conducted at 1:00 p.m.

The sessions focused on important topics, including the national drug situation, concepts of drug abuse, commonly abused drugs in the Philippines, and the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The discussions also highlighted Operation Private Eye, the “Isumbong Mo sa PDEA” online reporting platform, the PDEA Virtual Gallery Museum, and the Regional Public Assistance Desk, emphasizing the vital role of students and the community in promoting a safe and drug-free environment.

A total of 248 NSTP students participated in the two sessions.

Through initiatives such as DAPE, PDEA continues to strengthen drug abuse prevention awareness among the youth and empower communities to actively participate in the fight against illegal drugs.

PDEA PROMOTES DRUG-FREE ADVOCACY AMONG LA CONSOLACION COLLEGE STUDENTS

On September 5, 2026, at around 9:00 AM, PDEA RO-NIR represented by Agent Romeby Joy Sailog, Chief, PECI, conducted a Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) Lecture for the NSTP students of La Consolacion College–Bacolod City.

The lecture covered essential topics on the national drug situation, drug abuse concepts, commonly abused drugs in the Philippines, and the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The session also featured Operation Private Eye, the “Isumbong Mo sa PDEA” online reporting platform, the PDEA Virtual Gallery Museum, and the Regional Public Assistance Desk, highlighting the vital role of students and the community in promoting awareness, vigilance, and active participation in drug prevention efforts.

A total of 247 NSTP students participated in the activity.

Through initiatives like DAPE, PDEA continues to strengthen partnerships with schools and communities in building a drug-free and safer Philippines.

PDEA RO-NIR NOCPO STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH BARANGAY OLD POBLACION, ESCALANTE CITY

On September 3, 2026 at 3:00 PM, Investigation Agent I Gelly Robins G. Cataluña, Provincial Officer of the PDEA RO-NIR Negros Occidental Provincial Office, conducted a coordination meeting with Barangay Chairman Tommy Montinola Jr. of Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, on September 3, 2026.

The meeting focused on further strengthening the partnership and collaboration between PDEA NOCPO and the barangay in support of the continuing anti-drug campaign and the promotion of a safe and peaceful community.

Among the matters discussed was the conduct of Drug Abuse Prevention and Education (DAPE) lectures and anti-drug awareness activities for schools, fisherfolk, and other community stakeholders. These initiatives aim to enhance public awareness and encourage active participation in drug prevention efforts.

The discussion also emphasized the importance of intensifying the implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) through strengthened community participation, regular monitoring, and close coordination with concerned government agencies and stakeholders.

PDEA RO-NIR NOCPO INTENSIFIES DRUG PREVENTION ADVOCACY IN MURCIA, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL

The PDEA Regional Office – Negros Island Region Negros Occidental Provincial Office, intensified its drug prevention and advocacy efforts in Murcia, Negros Occidental, through a series of Drug Abuse Preventive Education (DAPE) and Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) lectures conducted on September 3, 2026.

The information and education activities were conducted among the faculty and students of Minoyan National High School, barangay officials and constituents of Barangay Pandanon and Barangay Pandanon Silos, and the faculty and students of Lopez Jaena Elementary School.

The sessions were facilitated by IO II Romeby Joy Sailog, Chief PECI, focused on strengthening participants’ awareness and understanding of the dangers of illegal drugs and the importance of collective action in drug prevention.

Key topics discussed included the national drug situation, concepts of drug abuse, commonly abused drugs in the Philippines, and the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Participants were likewise introduced to PDEA initiatives and platforms such as Operation Private Eye, the “Isumbong Mo sa PDEA” online reporting platform, the PDEA Virtual Gallery Museum, and the Regional Public Assistance Desk, emphasizing the vital role of schools, families, workplaces, barangays, and communities in preventing drug abuse and supporting anti-drug efforts.

Across the five activities, a total of 370 participants took part, including students, teaching personnel, barangay officials, and community members. The activities also provided an avenue for participants to gain practical knowledge and strengthen their commitment to promoting safe, healthy, and drug-free communities.

Through sustained education, community engagement, and collaboration with local stakeholders, PDEA RO-NIR NOCPO continues to bring drug prevention advocacy closer to the community and empower individuals to become active partners in the fight against illegal drugs.

On September 2, 2026, PDEA Regional Office – Negros Island Region, led by DIR II MELVIN S ESTOQUE, participated in the Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar and Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) Orientation conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology – Negros Island Region (DICT-NIR) at the PDEA RO-NIR Conference Room.

The activity aimed to strengthen personnel awareness and understanding of cybersecurity threats, information security, and the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI), highlighting the importance of safeguarding government information, systems, and digital resources against emerging cyber threats.

The seminar enhanced personnel knowledge and awareness of responsible digital practices, further reinforcing the Agency’s commitment to maintaining a secure, resilient, and trusted digital workplace.

On September 1, 2026, Investigation Agent I Gelly Robins G. Cataluña, Provincial Officer of the PDEA Negros Occidental Provincial Office (NOCPO), conducted a revisit to the officials of Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The visit focused on the barangay’s continuing efforts and initiatives to sustain its drug-cleared status and maintain a safe and peaceful community. Updates on the current drug situation in the barangay were likewise discussed, including the impact of previously conducted anti-drug operations in strengthening peace and order.

Discussions also highlighted the continued implementation of Drug Abuse Prevention and Education (DAPE) lectures and anti-drug awareness programs in schools, the intensification of anti-drug operations, and the strengthening of community-based initiatives in support of the barangay’s drug-clearing efforts.

Present during the meeting were Barangay Captain Carlito Lastimoso, barangay kagawads, and the barangay secretary.
Various issues and concerns raised during the discussion were addressed, reinforcing the importance of sustained collaboration between PDEA and barangay officials in preventing the resurgence of illegal drug activities and preserving the gains of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.

PDEA RO-NIR STRENGTHENS DRUG PREVENTION AND CLEARING EFFORTS IN ESCALANTE CITY

On September 1, 2026, PDEA RO-NIR Negros Occidental Provincial Office conducted a series of activities aimed at strengthening drug prevention, workplace advocacy, and inter-agency coordination in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

The day-long engagement began with a Drug Abuse Preventive Education (DAPE) Lecture for the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) officials of Escalante City, conducted at Kauswagan Hall.

The discussion covered the national drug situation, concepts of drug abuse, commonly abused drugs in the Philippines, and salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Participants were likewise introduced to PDEA initiatives and platforms, including Operation Private Eye, the “Isumbong Mo sa PDEA” online reporting platform, the PDEA Virtual Gallery Museum, and the Regional Public Assistance Desk, emphasizing the importance of active community participation in preventing and addressing the drug problem.

This was followed by a Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) Lecture, led by IO II Romeby Joy Sailog, Chief PECI, which further emphasized the importance of maintaining drug-free and productive workplaces and strengthening stakeholders’ commitment to drug prevention.

Later in the afternoon, PDEA RO-NIR-NOCPO, together with IO II Romeby Joy Sailog, Chief PECI, Regional Barangay Drug Clearing Program Team, conducted a coordination meeting with CLGOO VI Pechie Sabinay of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Escalante City.

The meeting focused on the proposed schedule for the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) Reorientation and Drug Awareness Lecture for the 21 barangays of Escalante City, which was discussed and approved. Updates regarding the proposed Balay Silangan facility and its planned activities were likewise discussed, subject to the approval of the Local Chief Executive.

Through these collaborative efforts, PDEA RO-NIR continues to strengthen partnerships with local government units and community stakeholders toward effective drug prevention, sustained barangay drug-clearing efforts, and the promotion of safer and drug-free communities.

STRENGTHENING DRUG-CLEARING EFFORTS: PDEA NIR REORIENTS 25 SAGAY CITY BARANGAYS

On September 1, 2026, at 9:00 AM, PDEA RO-NIR Negros Occidental Provincial Office, together with Regional Barangay Drug Clearing Program Team, conducted a Reorientation on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) for representatives from twenty-five (25) barangays of Sagay City.

The activity was held at Balay Kauswagan, Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, and was attended by LGOO III Rita Jerez of DILG Sagay City; PSSG Romulus Jude Ballentes, Assistant PCR of Sagay City Police Station; Punong Barangays; Barangay Kagawads on Peace and Order Committee (POC); and Barangay Secretaries.

Key topics discussed included the procedures for declaring drug-affected barangays as drug-cleared, guidelines for the validation of barangays with drug-cleared status, and the documentary requirements necessary for the proper implementation of the program.

The activity aimed to enhance the capabilities of BADAC members in effectively implementing the BDCP, strengthen their understanding of the validation process, ensure the timely submission of required and supporting documents, and reinforce their capacity to sustain their barangay’s drug-cleared status.

Issues and concerns raised by the participants were also addressed, providing further guidance toward the effective and sustained implementation of the program at the barangay level.

Through continuous coordination, capacity-building, and strengthened community participation, PDEA RO-NIR remains committed to supporting local government units in sustaining drug-clearing efforts and promoting safer and drug-free communities.
