PDEA RO-NIR K9 UNIT STRENGTHENS SEAPORT INTERDICTION CAPABILITIES THROUGH REFRESHER TRAINING AT BREDCO PORT

At around 9:00 a.m. on October 8, 2026, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office Negros Island Region (PDEA RO-NIR) K9 Unit with the assistance of the PDEA Regional Office VI Training Kit Custodian, conducted a K9 Refresher Training at BREDCO Port, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The activity was participated in by personnel from the PDEA RO-NIR Seaport/Airport Interdiction Unit (SIU/AIU) – Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

During the training, K9 handlers and Narcotics Detection Dogs (NDDs) performed search exercises to detect concealed narcotics, including ma*****na, ecstasy, methamphetamine, and co***ne, in luggage, parcels, vehicles, and room areas.

The activity aimed to sustain the operational readiness and detection proficiency of NDDs, enhance the skills of K9 handlers, and strengthen the agency’s drug interdiction capabilities, particularly in seaport operations.

Through continuous training and skills enhancement, PDEA RO-NIR remains committed to intensifying its efforts to prevent the entry and movement of illegal drugs through key transport hubs across the Negros Island Region.

PDEA RO-NIR SIU NEGROS ORIENTAL CONDUCTS SEARCH AND SEIZURE OPERATIONS AND RANDOM DRUG TESTING IN DUMAGUETE JAIL FACILITIES

October 2 and 6, 2026, joint personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Negros Island Region, Seaport/Airport Interdiction Unit (SIU) – Negros Oriental, led by IO II Christian G. Real, together with personnel of the Dumaguete City District Jail and Dumaguete City Jail Male Dormitory, conducted search and seizure operations at their respective facilities in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The October 2 operation was conducted in coordination with SJO4 Erwina T. Camacho, Officer-in-Charge of the Dumaguete City District Jail, while the October 6 operation was carried out with JCInsp. Gerino B. Malto, Jail Warden of the Dumaguete City Jail Male Dormitory.

No illegal drugs were found during both operations. The PDEA team also witnessed the conduct of random drug testing among Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

A total of 152 individuals underwent drug testing, comprising 83 BJMP personnel and 69 PDLs. All tested negative for illegal drug use.

These activities demonstrate the continued commitment of PDEA RO-NIR SIU Negros Oriental and its partner jail facilities to maintaining drug-free correctional environments and strengthening inter-agency cooperation in support of the government’s anti-drug campaign.

October 2026, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office Negros Island Region, through its Seaport/Airport Interdiction Unit- Negros Oriental led by IO II Christian G. Real, intensified K9 inspection and visibility operations at major transit hubs across Negros Oriental.

Assisted by Narcotic Detection Dog and in close coordination with port authorities, airport police, terminal management, and security personnel, the team conducted comprehensive K9 inspections and profiling at the following strategic locations:

PDEA NORPO STRENGTHENS DRUG PREVENTION ADVOCACY AND INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION 📣🤝

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Negros Island Region, Negros Oriental Provincial Office under the supervision of IA III Elmer T. Ebona, Acting Provincial Officer, strengthened its commitment to drug prevention and inter-agency collaboration through a series of activities in Negros Oriental.

On October 9, 2026, PDEA NORPO conducted a Drug Abuse Prevention Education lecture for Senior High School students of Bayawan City National High School during the kick-off ceremony of the Simultaneous Anti-Drug Awareness Symposium in Bayawan City.

On the same day, at around 10:00 a.m., PEMS Leandro A. Ador of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group – Negros Island Region (IMEG NIR) paid a courtesy visit to IA III Ebona at the PDEA NORPO Office in Capitol Area, Dumaguete City. The meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency partnership, intelligence sharing, and collaborative efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, on October 6, 2026, IA III Ebona attended the Provincial Advisory Council Meeting in Dauin, Negros Oriental, which discussed the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), as well as the accomplishments and programs of participating agencies.

PDEA NORPO CONDUCTS SERIES OF DAPE LECTURES IN NEGROS ORIENTAL 📣

From October 1 to 8, 2026, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Negros Oriental Provincial Office (PDEA NORPO), under the direct supervision of IA III Elmer T. Ebona, conducted a series of Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) lectures for students of Negros Oriental State University–Dumaguete Campus, Southern Tech College Foundation, Inc.–Bayawan City, and Immaculate Heart Academy–Tanjay City, as well as security personnel from D’Redeemer, Guardian Aces, and GDS.

The lectures covered the National Drug Situation, concepts of drug abuse, commonly abused drugs in the Philippines, and salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165. The session for security personnel also included the Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP).

Discussions likewise highlighted Operation Private Eye, the “Isumbong Mo sa PDEA” online reporting platform, the PDEA Virtual Gallery Museum, and the Regional Public Assistance Desk.

Through these initiatives, PDEA NORPO continues to promote drug abuse prevention awareness and strengthen community participation in the campaign against illegal drugs.

PDEA RO-NIR PROMOTES DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE PROGRAM IN LOGISTICS SECTOR

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office Negros Island Region (PDEA RO NIR) strengthened its commitment to promoting a drug-free workplace through a series of information and education activities conducted for the personnel, truck drivers, and helpers of Goldenmak Transport Solutions in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City on October 2–3, 2026.

On October 2, IA V DAVID MARK D MARAMBA, Chief of the Operations Division, was invited to conduct a Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) discussion for the company. The activity highlighted the importance of implementing drug-free workplace policies in accordance with Republic Act No. 9165 and DOLE Department Order No. 53-03, which provides guidelines for the implementation of Drug-Free Workplace Policies and Programs in the private sector. The PDEA QR-code-based feedback mechanism was also presented to the participants.

On October 3, PDEA RO-NIR Negros Occidental Provincial Office conducted a Drug Abuse Preventive Education (DAPE) Lecture for Goldenmak Transport Solutions’ staff, truck drivers, and helpers.

The session covered the national drug situation, concepts of drug abuse, commonly abused drugs in the Philippines, and salient provisions of RA 9165. STRONGER LGUS, SAFER COMMUNITIES: PDEA RO-NIR REINFORCES BDCP IN NEGROS ORIENTAL

On October 1–2, 2026, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PDEA RO-NIR), through the Regional Barangay Drug Clearing Program Team (RBDCPT), in partnership with the PDEA Negros Oriental Provincial Office, conducted a Two-Day Reorientation Seminar on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) at Tiptop Hotel, Southway Square, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. The activity was sponsored by the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental.

The activity was presided over by DIR II MARJORIE V BALLESTEROS, Officer-in-Charge, and brought together MADAC/CADAC Focal Persons, PCR personnel, MLGOOs, CLGOOs, and PNCOs who participated online.

The seminar aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of BDCP policies, guidelines, procedures, and the roles of partner agencies. Key discussions covered documentary requirements, drug-cleared and drug-free status, monitoring and validation procedures, and the latest BDCP updates.

Lectures were facilitated by PLTCOL ROBERT E AGDA, Assistant Chief, RCADD, PRO-NIR; Jarome Rey T. Simon, PTRP, DOH-NIR; and Kurt Philip T. Matas, DILG-NIR. An open forum was also conducted to address concerns and clarify issues on BDCP implementation.

The activity further strengthened coordination and collaboration among LGUs, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders, while enhancing their capability to effectively implement and sustain the BDCP in their respective areas of responsibility.

PDEA RO-NIR, JUDICIARY STRENGTHEN COORDINATION ON PROPER DRUG EVIDENCE DISPOSAL

On October 1, 2026, at around 11:00 a.m., PDEA RO-NIR, led by DIRECTOR II MARJORIE V BALLESTEROS, together with PDEA RO-NIR Negros Oriental Provincial Officer IA III Elmer T Ebona, conducted a coordination meeting with the Executive Judges in Dumaguete City.

The meeting was attended by Executive Judge Marie Rose Inocando-Paras, First Vice Executive Judge Glenda Yee Uymatiao, and Second Vice Executive Judge Maria Angelita Alcoran.

The discussion focused on the proposed destruction of dangerous drugs submitted as evidence in various Regional Trial Courts in Negros Oriental. They likewise expressed their willingness to coordinate with other courts regarding their possible participation in the proposed destruction activity.

The activity underscores the importance of inter-agency coordination and adherence to established procedures in the proper disposition and destruction of dangerous drugs submitted as evidence.

PDEA RO-NIR MEETS NEGROS ORIENTAL GOVERNOR

At around 10:00 a.m. on October 1, 2026, PDEA RO-NIR, led by DIR II MARJORIE V BALLESTEROS, together with IA III Elmer T Ebona, Provincial Officer of PDEA RO-NIR Negros Oriental Provincial Office, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Manuel “Chaco” L. Sagarbarria, Governor of Negros Oriental.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the proposed destruction of dangerous drugs in Negros Oriental. Governor Sagarbarria expressed his support for conducting destruction activity in the Province, covering confiscated/seized dangerous drugs subject to destruction from all Regional Trial Courts within Negros Oriental.

Dir II Ballesteros also discussed the procedures and requirements for the destruction of dangerous drugs, particularly in view of the current absence of laboratory services at PDEA RO-NIR.

The courtesy visit also highlighted the strong partnership between PDEA and the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental. Dir II Ballesteros expressed her appreciation for the Province’s continued support.
