On-Site Visit to 5Ks Communal Garden 🌱

Conducted an on-site visit and monitoring of the Communal Gardens of the 5Ks Program beneficiaries at So. Tayap, Brgy. Patag and Hda. Sta. Isabel, Brgy. Bagtic on September 4, 2026.

The activity was conducted together with the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Department of Agriculture Negros Island Region Organic team and the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) personnel to assess the progress of the gardens, provide technical guidance, and strengthen the implementation of sustainable and organic agricultural practices among the beneficiaries.

As part of the biological control measures against the Red Striped Soft Scale Insect (RSSI) infestation in sugarcane, neem oil was applied through the collaborative efforts of the Hawaiian Philippine Company (HPCo) and the Silay City RSSI Task Force under the administration of MAYOR JOEDITH C. GALLEGO
The spraying operation aimed to reduce the spread and impact of the pest on sugarcane plantations. The activity commenced in the upper portion of Hacienda Violeta, Brgy. Kapitan Ramon and systematically progressed downward to ensure thorough coverage of the affected areas. This initiative reflects the continued commitment of HPCo and the Local Government of Silay City to protecting sugarcane production through environmentally friendly and sustainable pest management practices.

The 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration the Nutrition Month Agri-Trade Fair Nutrition, Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan and Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a collaborative initiative of the City Nutrition Office , City Agriculture Office and the Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO). Located at the Silay Public Plaza, this event brings together health, environmental care, and affordable food access for the community.Through the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, this trade fair provides fresh, high-quality, and nutritious food directly to every Silaynon family at lower, affordable prices. These offices have united to bridge the gap between environmental sustainability, food security, and healthy communities. By showcasing the abundance of our local lands and seas, this agri-trade fair highlights how protecting our natural ecosystem directly sustains the nutritious food that fuels our families.The Nutrition, Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan core principle how health and nature go together, proving that protecting our local environment, soil, and water is the ultimate foundation for producing healthy food to nourish our community.The heart of this trade fair is the hard work of our local producers. The event proudly showcases 10 outstanding Farmers' Associations from different barangays, featuring their fresh harvests products.The event formally begins with the official Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at the Silay Public Plaza at exactly 3:00 PM, led by our city officials and department heads. Everyone is invited to explore the booths and support our local farmers.
