A letter to all Mommies in Service.
Dearest Mommy,
I’m writing this because sometimes life moves so fast that I forget to say the things that matter most. I see you every morning, putting on that uniform, pinning on your badge, and tightening your boots. To the world, you are a shield—a brave officer who keeps the peace. But to me, you are simply the heart of our home, and my greatest hero.
I want to say thank you.
Thank you for the sacrifices I know you make, even the ones you try to hide from me. I know there are nights when you’re exhausted, having carried the weight of the world on your shoulders all day, yet you still find the energy to tuck me in, listen to my stories, and make me feel like I’m the only thing that matters.
I know that when you walk out the door, you are choosing to protect other families, sometimes at the expense of being away from your own. It takes a special kind of heart to do what you do—to run toward the things others run away from, all while carrying a love for us that never wavers.
Please always remember to stay safe. Come home to me every single shift, because while the community might need their officer, I need my Mom. You are the bravest person I know, and I am the luckiest kid in the world to call you mine.
I love you more than words can say.
Love always,
Your Proud Son/Daughter
