The Academy conducted Workshop on the Finalization of PNPA Organizational Structure and Staffing Pattern (OSSP) which was attended by DPL Personnel, PNPA Command Group and Division Chiefs on May 22, 2023 (Monday). It was started with the opening remarks by PBGEN ALFREDO K DANGANI, Chief of Staff, followed by the presentation on the Proposed Enhanced PNPA OSSP by the Chief, PPSMD highlighting salient revisions. After the presentation was the open forum and later the concluding statement of D, PNPA.

DPL personnel were toured at the camp to view the facilities and on-going construction of infrastructure, to justify the enhancement of PNPA OSSP.

With this activity the Academy aims to develop a more responsive OSSP that will caters to the needs of the cadets and a better career opportunity for its personnel.

The PNPA conducted a Management Review on March 15, 2023 to discuss matters relative to the various QMS issues necessitating appropriate action by the Management. An opening prayer was led by Ms. Lyka Pauline B Endencio, followed by the roll call of participants facilitated by PCOL JAMES A TURBELA, Quality Management Representative. Welcome Message was given by PBGEN ALFREDO K DANGANI, the QMT Chairperson.
PCOL JAMES A TURBELA, presented the QMS Scope and Objectives, followed by the presentation of the status of the Enhanced OSSP by PLTCOL JONAS PRISLE B PRETE, Assistant Chief, PPSMD. The result of the Client Satisfaction Feedback for the period of 1st Semester AY 2022-2023 was presented by Ms. Gladys Rachel L Bencito, Planning Officer I. The results of the Internal Quality Audit were presented for review by Mr. Richard D. Perlado, Assistant Quality Management Representative.
After the presentation, each process owner was given the chance to comment and make observations relative to the items discussed in the Management Review. The OIC, PNPA noted the said observations and made specific directives to the offices to make the necessary actions as to the items and issues forwarded by some process owners. The OIC, PNPA, PBGEN CHRISTOPHER C BIRUNG, gave his guidance and officially adjourned the Management Review.

The Academy conducted a 4-day Internal Quality Audit to determine the compliances of the various offices of the Academy against provisions of the Quality Management System. It was held on March 28, 2023, at about 9:00 AM, wherein the Opening Meeting was presided by the Assistant Quality Management Representative – NUP Richard D Perlado, and attended by the Internal Audit Teams.

In the message of the Assistant Quality Management Representative, he emphasized that there is a need to ensure compliance with the requirements of the upcoming ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit. The Internal Quality Audit will be able to determine the effectiveness of the implemented system in the Academy and provide feedback to the Top Management on the opportunities for improvement.

After the opening meeting, the IQA Auditors proceeded with the audit proper taking into consideration the audit plan. Various documentary information were also presented to the auditors to support the various undertakings of their offices in accordance to standard. The audit was continued until the 4th day, as scheduled and closing meeting transpired on April 3, 2023, 2:00-5:00 PM.

IQA is one of the requisites for the determination of performance evaluation in accordance to ISO 9001: 2015 Clause 9.2. It is a process for continual improvement under the QMS necessary for the attainment of the unit’s goals and objectives.

In line with the preparation for the Continuing ISO Certification Process of PNPA for CY 2023, the Academy through the PPSMD conducted a Seminar/Workshop on Auditing Quality Management System (QMS) on February 14-15, 2023 held at the VIP Lounge. The said Seminar/Workshop was attended by a total of twenty-five (25) personnel from different offices/divisions. It aims to provide the PNPA with enough human resources equipped with appropriate training and competence particularly in the proper conduct of internal audit on various systems, procedures and process flows of the academy’s offices/division.

Various topics such as ISO 9001:2015 Clauses; QMS Auditing Concepts and Principles; QMS Audit Planning; and Program, Plans and Checklist were discussed. The afternoon session was utilized for the workshop on Writing Statement on the Non-Conformities (NC) and Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) wherein proper coaching and mentoring was done for the participants to understand the process of auditing.

On the 2nd day the participants were formed into 7 groups for a group task were given different scenarios/situations to react properly by providing an appropriate ”clause” in the ISO Standard as a response to the scenario. The afternoon session was utilized for the Demonstration and Role Playing where the top 2 groups were given scenarios to play while others acted as critiques and spectators. The said demonstration/role playing was purposely done, to evaluate participants’ learning.

The closing ceremony was held with the Acting Chief of Staff who led in the distribution of certificate of completion to the participants as well as the giving of token and certificate of appreciation to the Resource Speaker.
