The Sibuco Municipal Fire Station, led by SFO4 Rey M Timtim, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Hon. Joel M. Ventura, Municipal Mayor of Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, in grateful recognition of his exemplary leadership and unwavering partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection Region IX.

The certificate specifically recognizes Mayor Ventura’s generosity and commitment in strengthening the operational capability of the Sibuco Fire Station through the acquisition of a new fire truck, enhancing its capacity to deliver effective fire protection and emergency response services.

The certificate was graciously received on behalf of Mayor Ventura by Hon. Absar A. Karil, Vice Mayor of Sibuco, during the traditional Monday Flag-Raising Ceremony.

Under the guidance of SFO4 Rey M Timtim, REE, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal of Sibuco Municipal Fire Station, personnel of Sibuco Municipal Fire Station conducted its weekly skills enhancement Training to strengthen the skills, preparedness, and operational readiness of its personnel through PPE Skills Enhancement Training.

The activity focused on enhancing personnel’s proficiency in the proper donning, wearing, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing operational tasks and emergency response exercises.

Training while wearing PPE helps personnel build familiarity, mobility, endurance, and confidence—ensuring they are better prepared to perform safely and effectively when responding to actual emergencies.

🚨🔥 FIRE SAFETY TIP FOR SCHOOLS 🔥🚨
When Fire Becomes Part of an Active Attack

As schools participate in the National Simultaneous Contingency Plan for Active Attack Incidents, it is important to remember that an active threat may also involve the intentional starting of a fire.

In such situations, preparedness, awareness, and proper response can save lives.

🧯 REMEMBER:

🔹 PRIORITIZE LIFE SAFETY – Leave belongings behind and move away from the danger area.

🔹 KNOW YOUR EXITS – Familiarize yourself with primary and alternate evacuation routes. If your usual exit is blocked by fire, smoke, or the threat, use a safe alternative route.

🔹 STAY LOW IN SMOKE – If smoke is present, stay as low as possible and avoid areas heavily filled with smoke.

🔹 FOLLOW EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS – Listen to teachers, school authorities, and responding emergency personnel. Follow your school's established contingency and evacuation procedures.

🔹 NEVER RETURN TO THE BUILDING – Once you have reached a safe location, do not re-enter the building until authorities declare it safe.

🔹 ACCOUNT FOR EVERYONE – Teachers and designated personnel should conduct student accountability at the designated safe area and immediately report missing or injured individuals to responders.

🚒 Remember: In an active attack involving fire, do not attempt to confront the attacker or put yourself in danger to fight the fire. Your safety comes first. Law enforcement handles the active threat while fire and emergency responders address the fire and other hazards when it is safe to do so.

Preparedness is our first line of defense.
Knowing what to do can save lives.
