The town that we now know today as the developing municipality of Sevilla was born during the 1870s Spanish colonial era from an aggregate of territories of what mainly used to be barrio Panas of Loboc and then rose from the ashes the Ventig fire inflicted by the American conquerors when they failed to find some Filipino patriots during the Filipino-American War. The history of Sevilla is a story of toil, struggle and adventure. It is a story of an emerging inland paradise municipality forged with the challenges of rural reality and adversities brought about by historical consequences and modern circumstances. Today, Sevilla thrives with the resilience of its agricultural economy which are mainly based on stable outputs from its rice, coconut, and livestock industries. It also boasts of a growing cooperative movement which continues to gradually empower people down to its most remote communities. At the moment, Sevilla is emerging to be a potent tourist destination. The promising economic numbers of its simple but growing Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge drop off stopover point is indicative of a bright future for the tourism program of its local government. Recently renamed โSevilla Twin Hanging Bridgeโ upon its official inclusion to the provinceโs tourism marketing program, this simultaneously spectacular and symbolic landmark of Sitio Sipatan, Barangay Ewon of this municipality is envisioned by the local government to soon serve as a gateway to the many other potential tourist spots within Sevilla which can offer even more sensual sceneries and exciting adventures to both domestic and foreign tourists. As its local government continues to put in place the necessary infrastructures for a sustainable development moving forward, Sevilla is poised to become an important feature in the economic, tourism and sociocultural map of the Province of Bohol, if not in the articles of national reference.
