𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐔-𝐕𝐒𝐂

Innovation and collaboration marked the 2nd Tech Expo of Northern Iloilo State University–Victorino Salcedo Campus, held at the Campus Gymnasium on February 27, 2026, with the theme “NISU-VSC Tech Nexus: Connecting Minds, Meaningful Innovation Impact.”

The university underscored the importance of technological advancement and collaboration as the campus held its second Tech Expo, providing a venue for students to present their innovations and research-based projects.

Engr. Hermie A. Alegre, Chairperson of the Bindtech Department, officially welcomed participants and guests to the second staging of the Tech Expo. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, creativity, and progress, describing the event as a platform where the intersection of technology and innovation sparks meaningful impact within the academic community.

Campus Administrator Dr. Raffy B. Chavez expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the program. In his message, he acknowledged the continuous advancement of technology, particularly developments such as artificial intelligence. He stressed that innovation never stops and should not be limited, encouraging students and faculty to continuously improve their technological initiatives in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rosalie Grace S. Dela Cruz, Dean of the College of Industrial Technology, inspired participants by reminding them that the knowledge and skills they develop today will create a real impact in the future. She encouraged students to pursue innovation responsibly, ensuring that technology is used for meaningful and ethical purposes.

Highlighting the purpose of the Tech Expo, Engr. Jomar A. Dador, Associate Director for IQA and faculty member, explained that the collaboration aims to transform concepts into practical applications. He underscored academic excellence, sustainability, and the development of opportunities as key goals of the event, describing it as a celebration of curiosity, perseverance, and meaningful innovation.

The 2nd Tech Expo once again served as a platform for students to showcase their creativity and technical skills, reinforcing NISU-VSC’s commitment to fostering innovation and meaningful impact through technology.

The orientation meeting was conducted by Dr. Rizzamila Superio, Quality Assurance Director of Northern Iloilo State University, in preparation for the upcoming accreditation of two academic programs by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). The session focused on readiness and compliance requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) targeting Level III accreditation and the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCRIM) targeting Level IV accreditation.

The orientation gathered the core faculty members of both programs, along with designated members of the accreditation task force. Key points discussed included the standards and evaluation criteria for each accreditation level, documentary requirements, area assignments, timelines, and coordination protocols to ensure systematic preparation. Emphasis was placed on evidence-based documentation, continuous quality improvement, and unified participation of all involved personnel to achieve the desired accreditation outcomes.

The meeting reinforced the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance while mobilizing the respective teams toward a coordinated and well-prepared accreditation process.

✨ QAO and BS Criminology Faculty Unite for AACCUP Level IV Preparation

The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) successfully held a coordination meeting with the BS Criminology Faculty last February 4, 2026, as part of the institution’s preparation for the upcoming AACCUP Level IV accreditation of the program.

The meeting served as a platform to ensure alignment on accreditation expectations and to strengthen readiness through:
✅ systematic evidence organization and exhibit tracking
✅ documentation mapping per accreditation area
✅ strengthening outcome-based practices and continuous improvement documentation
✅ setting timelines for internal review and validation activities

NISU VSSC Gears Up for AACCUP Level III Accreditation of BSTM Program

NISU VSSC strengthened its preparations for the upcoming AACCUP Level III Accreditation of the BS in Tourism Management (BSTM) Program through a coordination meeting focused on readiness activities and document consolidation.

During the discussion, faculty members and accreditation personnel reviewed key requirements per area, emphasized the updating and proper organization of documents and means of verification, and agreed on standard formats for write-ups, exhibits, and file labeling to ensure consistency. The group also set timelines for internal checking and proposed a mock evaluation to identify gaps prior to the actual accreditation visit.

The activity underscored the campus’ commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement by ensuring that program initiatives and outcomes are supported by complete and verifiable evidence aligned with AACCUP standards.

Marking a significant transition from academic theory to professional practice, the Northern Iloilo State University–Victorino Salcedo Sara Campus (NISU-VSC), through its College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), held its Pinning Ceremony on January 16, 2026, at the campus gymnasium for the Academic Year 2025–2026.

The ceremony gathered a total of 271 graduating students, together with their parents, to celebrate an important milestone for the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) programs as students formally prepared to enter the professional field.

In her opening message, Dr. Renette A. Valderrama, SAS Associate Director, reminded the students to carry the values instilled by the institution wherever they go, emphasizing professionalism, humility, integrity, excellence, and service with a heart.

Campus Administrator Dr. Raffy B. Chavez highlighted the responsibility that comes with joining the industry, reminding students that they are not only representing themselves but also serving as ambassadors of NISU-VSC in every workplace they enter.

Meanwhile, CHTM Dean Dr. Matt Numer Ofalla expressed his gratitude to the parents and guardians, acknowledging their constant support and sacrifices that helped shape the students’ academic and personal growth throughout their college journey.

During the ceremony, students were formally presented by their respective department chairpersons—Dr. Jimmy F. De Jullian for BSHM and Professor Kelly Art Montefrio for BSTM. Faculty members then performed the symbolic pinning of official CHTM pins onto the students’ corporate attire and uniforms, signifying their commitment to professionalism, ethics, and excellence in the global service industry.

Serving as a formal rite of passage, the Pinning Ceremony marked the students’ successful completion of classroom instruction and their readiness to embark on professional internships, as they take their first steps toward becoming competent and globally competitive hospitality and tourism professionals.
