Marking a significant transition from academic theory to professional practice, the Northern Iloilo State UniversityโVictorino Salcedo Sara Campus (NISU-VSC), through its College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), held its Pinning Ceremony on January 16, 2026, at the campus gymnasium for the Academic Year 2025โ2026.
The ceremony gathered a total of 271 graduating students, together with their parents, to celebrate an important milestone for the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) programs as students formally prepared to enter the professional field.
In her opening message, Dr. Renette A. Valderrama, SAS Associate Director, reminded the students to carry the values instilled by the institution wherever they go, emphasizing professionalism, humility, integrity, excellence, and service with a heart.
Campus Administrator Dr. Raffy B. Chavez highlighted the responsibility that comes with joining the industry, reminding students that they are not only representing themselves but also serving as ambassadors of NISU-VSC in every workplace they enter.
Meanwhile, CHTM Dean Dr. Matt Numer Ofalla expressed his gratitude to the parents and guardians, acknowledging their constant support and sacrifices that helped shape the studentsโ academic and personal growth throughout their college journey.
During the ceremony, students were formally presented by their respective department chairpersonsโDr. Jimmy F. De Jullian for BSHM and Professor Kelly Art Montefrio for BSTM. Faculty members then performed the symbolic pinning of official CHTM pins onto the studentsโ corporate attire and uniforms, signifying their commitment to professionalism, ethics, and excellence in the global service industry.
Serving as a formal rite of passage, the Pinning Ceremony marked the studentsโ successful completion of classroom instruction and their readiness to embark on professional internships, as they take their first steps toward becoming competent and globally competitive hospitality and tourism professionals.
