BRIEF HISTORY OF BARANGAY TIBAL-OG

In 1949, Barangay Maniki was then created as Municipality separated from its Mother Municipality Asuncion. At that time Tibal-og was a part of Prison Preservation of Davao Penal Colony/ DAPECOL/ wherein it is occupied by the native known as “AETAS”. In 1953, by virtue of Presidential Decree of President Elpidio Quirino, Tibal-og was then declared as Narra Settl

ement. In 1955, after the Municipal Mayor’s Election which was won by Vicente Royo, it was at his time with the help of Municipal Councilor Dominador Solis issued a Memorandum Order declaring Tibal-og as one barrio of Municipality of Kapalong. The first Tenyente del Barrio which was appointed by the Mayor was Martin Geraga. The word “Tibal-og” which is the name of our barrio is derived from Aeta word which refers to a creek which traversed the settlement of this natives. During that time the government distributed the land to the landless farmers migrant with five hectares per migrant. Through this program it attracts migrants from Luzon, Visayas and other regions of Mindanao. With this progress, the Sweden farming or kaingin grew rampant and cleared area turned into settlement. It is gradually occupied by the lowland migrants and the hill tribes or natives moved deeper into the hinterland. Through this progress, eventually the once preservation area turned into progressive human settlement and made Tibal-og promising center of Agriculture and trade. From the creation of our Barangay, we already have Nine Generations of Officials who served the barrio at their most namely:
