The Local Government Unit of Santa Teresita, through the initiative of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Santa Teresita, officially launched the Kapit-Buhay Program: An SK-Led Mental Health Awareness and Peer Counseling Initiative today, April 20, 2026, during the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Municipal Hall.

SK Federation President Hon. Kurt Rappel T. Asuncion highlighted the urgency of the program, citing the growing mental health concerns among young Teresianos as the driving force behind its creation.

Maโ€™am Theresa Sumibcay of CSU Gonzaga, the programโ€™s proponent, provided a brief yet insightful discussion on the importance of strengthening mental health awareness and peer support systems among the youth.

The Kapit-Buhay Program aims to empower every barangay in Santa Teresita to become a safe and supportive space where young individuals feel heard, understood, and valued. With the full support of the LGU, the SK Federation remains committed to bringing this initiative down to the grassroots level, ensuring that no young Teresiano feels alone in their struggles.

Matagumpay na isinagawa ng Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, katuwang ang Namnama Mental Health Club Organization of Gonzaga, ang KAPIT-BUHAY Project: A Mental Health Awareness and Peer Counseling Seminar noong ika-27 ng Marso 2026 sa Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Dinaluhan ito ng mga SK officials mula sa ibaโ€™t ibang barangay upang palakasin ang kanilang kakayahan sa pagtugon sa mga isyung pangkalusugang pangkaisipan ng kabataan. Tampok sa seminar ang pitong (7) modules na malinaw na naglahad ng mga layunin, estratehiya, at direksyon ng programa. Ang bawat talakayan ay idinisenyo upang magbigay ng praktikal na kaalaman na maaari nilang magamit sa kani-kanilang komunidad.

Layunin ng proyekto na ihanda ang mga SK officials bilang mga pangunahing tagapagtaguyod ng mental health awareness sa grassroots level. Sa pamamagitan nito, inaasahang mapapalakas ang suporta, maagang interbensyon, at pagbubukas ng usapan ukol sa mental health sa hanay ng kabataan.

Binigyang-diin ni Resource Speaker Maโ€™am Theresa Marie Sumibcay ang kahalagahan ng pag-unawa sa mental health at ang pagbawas ng stigma na kaugnay nito. Hinikayat niya ang paglikha ng mga ligtas na espasyo kung saan malayang makakapagpahayag ang kabataan at makahingi ng suporta.

Samantala, iginiit ni SK Federation President Kurt Rappel T. Asuncion ang mahalagang papel ng Sangguniang Kabataan bilang haligi ng lakas at gabay ng kabataan. Hinikayat niya ang mga SK officials na gamitin ang kanilang natutunan at aktibong ipalaganap ang kamalayan sa mental health sa kanilang mga barangay.

Sa pamamagitan ng KAPIT-BUHAY Project, patuloy na nagsisikap ang SK Federation at mga katuwang nito na makabuo ng mas mulat, maunawain, at matatag na komunidad ng kabataan.

The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Santa Teresita successfully conducted its Regular Session for the month of March on March 12, 2026, held via online platform and presided over by SK Federation President Kurt Rappel T. Asuncion.

The meeting served as an avenue to discuss upcoming youth initiatives and strengthen collaborative efforts in promoting youth development within the municipality. Joining the session was Maโ€™am Theresa Sumibcay, a professor from CSU Gonzaga Campus, who presented a proposal for a Mental Health Peer Counseling Seminar to be integrated in the upcoming Youth Caravan. The initiative aims to equip SK Federation Officers and Members with the knowledge and skills necessary to support fellow youths in addressing mental health concerns and promoting emotional well-being within their respective communities.

Also present during the session was Ms. Samanta Nicole Campano, the Reigning Binibining Santa Teresita 2025, who shared her advocacy for mental health awareness among Teresiano youths. Her participation highlighted the importance of empowering young leaders and role models to actively champion mental health conversations and create safe spaces for the youth.

The discussion emphasized the Federationโ€™s continued commitment to programs that not only foster leadership and participation, but also prioritize the holistic well-being of young people in the Municipality of Santa Teresita.

Diwata ng Mission, Franzynne De La Rosa and Prinsipe ng Luga, Jake Plan, were recognized as Best in Advocacy following an evaluation held on February 26, 2026, at the Municipal Office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The judging was led by MLGOO Designate - Michael Villamin, who conducted a paper assessment and facilitated a discussion of each candidateโ€™s proposed advocacy. The presentations focused on environmental preservation and sustainable tourism.

Candidates were evaluated based on the clarity, relevance, and feasibility of their proposed initiatives. The process highlighted their understanding of current environmental concerns and their commitment to promoting responsible tourism in the municipality.

Diwata ng Mission and Prinsipe ng Luga stood out for presenting clear and practical plans that reflect strong dedication to environmental responsibility. The recognition affirms the importance of empowering young leaders to champion meaningful and sustainable causes.

Letโ€™s run together in the Eco Fun Run for our health and for our nature!

Registration of Participants
a. Fun Run will be held on February 27, 2026 as a part of the Namunit Festival. The event will start at 6AM in the morning, infront of the Municipal Hall.
b. A Registration Fee of Php 150.00 will be paid by the participants and for online just scan the QR Code.
c. The first 150 individuals to register will have a free day tour in Tabaco Cave. It can be availed only on February 27, 2026, after the Fun Run.
d. Registration of participants will be done through Online Registration (Using Google Forms) and Personal/Walk-in at the Tourism Office, Monday-Friday at 8:00am-5:00pm.
e. Registrants will pay through online payments, and a proof of payment must be provided (for online) upon registration.
f. The Registration Form will include a waiver/health declaration form for the participants. The registration form must include a note that the participants must ensure that they are in good health condition and fit to participate in the event.
