Shaping the Future of Local Governance, Together.

In a significant step toward strengthening local governance, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Laguna successfully conducted Day 1 of the Provincial Consultation for the Local Government Code of 1991 Review and Amendment Program (LGC RevAmP).

The consultation gathered participants from the Fiscal/Finance Cluster and Service Delivery Cluster, representing the Provincial Government of Laguna, the LGUs of City of San Pedro, Alaminos, Pakil, Rizal, City of Calamba, Los Baños, Majayjay, and Siniloan, as well as representatives from Brgy. Pacita 2 (City of San Pedro), Brgy. Halayhayin (Siniloan), and Brgy. Alipit (Magdalena).

Through meaningful discussions and collaborative engagement, participants identified policy and operational challenges, pinpointed system bottlenecks, and developed recommendations to enhance the Local Government Code. The consultation also fostered stronger partnerships among local government stakeholders, with focused discussions on Fiscal Sustainability and Resource Sharing and Service Delivery, Smart Infrastructure, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM).

As DILG Laguna continues to lead this important initiative, every insight and recommendation brings us closer to a more responsive, empowered, and future-ready local government system.

ICYMI | The DILG Laguna, in partnership with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies (BEST) Inc., held an exploratory meeting with the City Government of Biñan last May 26 to discuss piloting the "Trash to Cashback" Program in the city.

Under this eco-incentive initiative, Biñan residents can exchange recyclable waste for Environmental Points (EPs). These EPs serve as a digital currency that can be used to redeem groceries, food items, online shopping vouchers, and more. Aside from incentivizing recycling, the initiative aims to actively drive community participation in environmental conservation and sustainability.

The partnership is expected to be officially sealed through a memorandum of agreement after the thorough review of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the Mayor’s office who have expressed a very keen interest on the program.

TodaysScope | DILG Laguna conducted a consultation dialogue with Congressman Walfredo Dimaguila Jr., Representative of the Lone District of Biñan, on May 29, 2026, at the Biñan Lone Congressional District Office, City of Biñan, Laguna. The consultation focused on identifying policy gaps, operational challenges, and potential areas for reform in the Local Government Code of 1991.

The activity forms part of the DILG IV-A’s strategy ensure that key stakeholders are consulted on the Local Government Code (LGC) of 1991 Review and Amendment Program (LGC RevAmP), which aims to strengthen local governance, improve public service delivery, and ensure that the Code remains responsive to the evolving needs of local government units and communities.

ICYMI| The Department of the Interior and Local Government Laguna LGRC-MSAC Roadmapping and Strategic Planning was successfully held on May 20, 2026 at Hectan. The activity brought together key stakeholders and partners to align goals, craft strategic directions, and strengthen collaborative efforts in advancing knowledge management and capacity development initiatives for local government units across the province.

The planning workshop was facilitated by Dean Jen Amparo of the College of Human Ecology, UPLB, whose expertise and insights guided the participants in developing strategic and actionable plans for the organization.

This is a journey that we will do together toward greater things and good local governance — moving forward with a shared vision of empowered communities, strengthened partnerships, and innovative governance for the people of Laguna.

DILG IV-A warns the public against individuals falsely claiming connection and using the name of Regional Director Ariel O. Iglesia, CESO III.

DILG IV-A strictly adheres to Republic Act No. 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, which prohibits public officials and employees from soliciting or accepting gifts, favors, loans, or anything of monetary value in
connection with official duties.

The public is advised to immediately report similar acts of solicitation using the name of the Regional Director through (02) 8876-3454 local no. 7410.
