REPUBLIC ACT 9344 — JUVENILE JUSTICE AND WELFARE ACT OF 2006
RA 9344 is a law that protects the rights of children in conflict with the law, ensuring they are treated with dignity and given a chance for rehabilitation, not punishment.
👶 Who is considered a child under the law?
✔️ Any person below 18 years old
⚖️ Key Provisions of RA 9344:

✅ Children 15 years old and below are exempt from criminal liability
✅ Children above 15 but below 18 are also exempt unless they acted with discernment
✅ Focus is on rehabilitation and reintegration — not incarceration
✅ Establishes the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC)
✅ Encourages diversion programs, not prison time
