The Municipality of San Miguel, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) headed by Mr. Alexander D. Dapar Jr., successfully concluded the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026 with the Municipal Disaster Resilience Forum and Culmination Program held on July 31, 2026, at the Multipurpose Evacuation Center.

Guided by the theme, "Empowering Communities in the Face of Climate Change," the month-long celebration highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, climate resilience, and strong collaboration among government agencies, partner organizations, educational institutions, barangays, and the community. Through various activities conducted throughout the month, the municipality reaffirmed its commitment to building a safer, more prepared, and more resilient San Miguel.

The success of this celebration was made possible through the invaluable support and active participation of our partner agencies, organizations, Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs), municipal offices, volunteers, stakeholders, and participants.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in partnership of Municipal Environment and Natural Resource Office (MENRO), successfully conducted a Tree Planting and Growing Activity at Barangay Carromata, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and disaster resilience. On July 25, 2026, the Office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, headed by Mr. Alexander D. Dapar jr., officially launched the 2nd Municipal Inter-School DRRM Contest, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation, and resilience among the youth.

This initiative aims to promote disaster risk reduction awareness, foster a culture of safety and responsibility, and encourage students from public school to become active partners in building a more resilient community. It also supports the implementation of Republic Act No. 10121 and the Department of Education's Comprehensive DRRM in Basic Education Framework at the local level.

Together, we continue to empower the next generation to become informed, prepared, and resilient leaders for a safer and more disaster-resilient San Miguel.

The Municipality of San Miguel, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), successfully conducted the 4-Day Seminar-Workshop on the Enhanced Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (E-LDRRMP) held on July 21โ€“24, 2026 at Hangout Alley, Brgy. Osmeรฑa, Dapa, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.

This workshop served as a vital step in strengthening the municipality's disaster resilience by enhancing the Local DRRM Plan through risk-informed planning, collaborative discussions, and the integration of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, preparedness, response, recovery, rehabilitation, prevention, and mitigation strategies.

The activity gathered members of the Municipal DRRMC, Technical Working Group, and key stakeholders who worked together in formulating a more responsive, inclusive, and evidence-based E-LDRRMP that will guide the Municipality of San Miguel toward a safer, more resilient, and sustainable future.

The Municipality extends its sincere appreciation to RVM Resiliency Consultancy Services, all facilitators, resource persons, participants, and partner agencies for their invaluable support and commitment to building a disaster-resilient San Miguel.
