Bakit mahalaga ang pangangalaga ng watershed?

Ang hydropower plants ay nangangailangan ng tuloy-tuloy na daloy ng tubig para makapagproduce ng kuryente. Pero kapag nasisira ang watershed dahil sa pagputol ng puno, o maling paggamit ng lupa bumababa ang water supply at bumabagal ang operasyon ng mga dam.

Maayos na watershed = tuloy-tuloy na kuryente mula sa hydropower.

At tandaan: Mas mura ang pagprotekta ng watershed kaysa sa pag-aayos ng nasirang infrastructure.
Mas mabigat ang gastos kapag kailangan nang mag-dredge ng dam, mag-ayos ng sira sa power plant intakes, o mag-rebuild ng transmission lines.

Kaya ang pangangalaga ng watershed ay hindi lang environmental work—isa itong energy security strategy para sa mas matatag na suplay ng kuryente para sa lahat.

True to its commitment in adopting at least 1 hectare of open areas within the San Roque Watershed Reservation for rehabilitation, the Urdaneta City Parole and Probation Office (UCPPO) employees, volunteers and clients together with San Roque Watershed Area Team, conducted Tree Planting and Plantation Maintenance activities on 09 October 2024 at Sitio Colibong, San Roque, San Manuel, Pangasinan.
The project commenced last 11 July 2024 and was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement on Partnership in Watershed Rehabilitation Project which will be effective until December 2026.

Altiga for accommodating us to discuss the status of on-going projects and the availment of Universal Charge-Environmental Charge (UC-EC) Plan 21 on 11 October 2024.

The National Power Corporation thru its San Roque Watershed Area Team has conducted a collaborative dialogue with the Barangay Council and constituents of Barangay San Felipe West, San Nicolas, Pangasinan last 17 September 2024. The topics discussed were (1) legal bases on NPCs complete control and jurisdiction of the San Roque Watershed, (2) availment of Universal Charge-Environmental Charge (UC-EC) fund, and (3) registration of all motorized boats plying within the San Roque Reservoir.
