The activity focused on strengthening the preparedness, coordination, communication, and emergency response capabilities of school personnel and learners in the event of an active attack or similar emergency situation.
As a safety-focused simulation, the drill did not involve actual weapons or the physical portrayal of an attacker. Instead, an alarm or pre-agreed notification was used to initiate the scenario, allowing participants to practice appropriate RunβHide and other established safety protocols in a controlled environment.
The exercise also assessed the school's implementation of its School Safety and Emergency Response Plan, including communication with responding agencies, Lock-In/Lock-Out procedures, identification of medical response areas, emergency access points, and family reunification arrangements.
Through the active participation of partner agencies, the drill provided an opportunity to clarify roles, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and identify areas for improvement in emergency preparedness and response.
