STRENGTHENING ANIMAL WELFARE ENFORCEMENT IN SAN JUAN CITY

The DA–Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI) successfully conducted a two-day Animal Welfare Enforcement Officers (AWEOs) Training for personnel from the PNP and LGUs.

The training strengthened participants’ knowledge and skills in animal welfare enforcement, rescue and seizure procedures, case handling and documentation, and inter-agency coordination, in accordance with RA 8485 (Animal Welfare Act of 1998), as amended by RA 10631, and related regulations.

Representing San Juan City were City Veterinarian, Dr. Belle Tamonan, and two police officer PMSG Daisy C. Hipona, and PSSg Ryan Christopher Mationg, under the leadership of PCOL Anthony Gantang.

The City remains committed to strengthening animal welfare initiatives, promoting responsible pet ownership, managing stray animals, and supporting rabies prevention efforts for a safer, healthier, and more compassionate San Juan City. 🐕🐈🇵🇭

The City Government of San Juan invites San Juaneño pet owners to take part in the Spay and Neuter Program, supporting responsible pet ownership and promoting the health and well-being of our beloved pets.

500 slots are available on a first come, first served basis.

Schedule:
• September 14, 2026, Monday, 9:00 AM – First 50 registered and verified participants at the City Veterinary Office

• September 29, 2026, Tuesday, 9:00 AM – Remaining 450 registered and verified participants at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center

You will receive a confirmation text message within the next few days after completing your registration.

On September 14, the City Veterinary Office will also offer free anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, and microchipping at the San Juan City Hall Atrium.
