Troops of the 30th Infantry Battalion and the 3rd Special Forces Battalion all under the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division successfully unearthed an arms cache of the New People's Army (NPA) in the vicinity of Mt. Ararat, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur on June 9, 2026, through information provided by a former rebel.

Acting on the information, operating troops launched an operation leading to the arms cache where an M16 rifle with two magazines were captured. The FR also revealed that he personally buried the firearm sometime in 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Rey Vergel A. Annogui, Commanding Officer of 30IB, emphasized the significance of this development in further weakening the armed capabilities of the NPA in the area.

"The successful recovery of this arms cache highlights the invaluable contribution of former rebels who have chosen to return to the folds of the law. Their cooperation enables our troops to locate hidden war materiel and prevent these weapons from being used to threaten communities and government forces. This accomplishment further demonstrates the effectiveness of our sustained peace and security operations in Agusan del Sur," he said.

The operation forms part of the Division's continuing efforts to fully destroy the NPA and support the government's whole-of-nation approach in attaining lasting peace and development in conflict-affected communities.

Major General Marion T. Angcao, Commander of 4ID commended the operating troops for the successful operation and highlighted the significant gains achieved in the campaign against the NPA. He noted that the remaining NPA members in the region have already surrendered or have been rendered ineffective, bringing the region closer to the declaration of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS).

"This accomplishment is another testament to the dwindling capability of the NPA in Northeastern Mindanao. We commend the former rebel for his courage and trust in the government, which contributed significantly to this success. With the surrender of the remaining NPA members in the region and the continued support of our stakeholders and communities, the SIPS status will soon be declared throughout Caraga region. We encourage those who may still be influenced by the communist terrorist ideology to abandon armed struggle, return to the folds of the law, and avail themselves of the government's reintegration programs," he stated.

Ang operasyon ay pinangunahan ng mga tauhan ng Calintaan Municipal Police Station katuwang ang San Ildefonso MPS, San Miguel MPS ng Bulacan Police Provincial Office, at Criminal Investigation Team ng Regional Intelligence Division, Occidental Mindoro.

Inaresto ang akusado sa bisa ng mga warrant of arrest para sa kasong Sexual Assault sa ilalim ng Article 266-A at 266-B ng Revised Penal Code, at dalawang kaso ng paglabag sa Republic Act 7610 o Child Abuse Act. Nagkakahalaga ng ₱360,000.00 ang kabuuang inirekomendang piyansa para sa mga nasabing kaso.

Kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng Calintaan MPS ang naarestong akusado para sa kaukulang disposisyon at legal na proseso.

Lutera INF (GSC) PA, ang limang (5) aktibong miyembro ng New People’s Army (NPA) noong 26 May 2026 sa lalawigan ng Masbate, kasabay ng pinaigting na operasyong militar laban sa mga natitirang armadong grupo sa lugar. Kasabay ng kanilang pagsuko, isinuko rin ng mga nagbalik-loob ang anim (6) na iba't ibang uri ng mataas at mababang kalibre ng armas. Ayon sa mga sumuko, nakaranas sila ng matinding hirap sa loob ng kilusan, kawalan ng seguridad, at kawalan ng malinaw na direksyon, dahilan upang magpasya silang talikuran ang armadong pakikibaka at muling magbalik sa mapayapang pamumuhay.

Ayon kay Maj. Gen. Aldwine I. Almase PA, Commander ng 9th Infantry (SPEAR) Division, ang kanilang pagsuko ay nagligtas sa kanila mula sa posibleng kapahamakan at nagbukas ng panibagong yugto ng kanilang buhay. Aniya, ang hakbang na ito ay patunay na mas pinipili ng maraming dating rebelde ang landas ng kapayapaan at kaunlaran kaysa sa armadong pakikibaka.

Kasalukuyan nang isinasailalim sa debriefing at processing ang mga sumuko upang matiyak ang kanilang maayos na reintegrasyon sa lipunan. Inihahanda rin sila para makatanggap ng iba’t ibang benepisyo sa ilalim ng Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), kabilang ang tulong pinansyal, pangkabuhayan, at fi****ms remuneration para sa mga isinukong armas.

Two former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to authorities in Eastern Samar and Negros Oriental on May 18, according to police and military reports.

In Barangay Bangon, San Policarpo, Eastern Samar, authorities identified the surrenderer only by the alias “Popoy,” a 64-year-old farmer.

Police said alias Popoy was a former member of the Yunit Militia and allegedly had links to the NPA from 2016 to 2021.

Meanwhile, another former rebel surrendered in Barangay Panciao, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.

PASAY CITY, June 12, 2026 — Authorities intercepted 50 live Indian Star Tortoises concealed in the baggage of an inbound Malaysian passenger at the Arrival Customs X-Ray Area of NAIA Terminal 1, leading to his arrest for alleged violations of wildlife protection and customs laws.

The interception began when personnel of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) conducted routine screening of the passenger’s luggage and detected suspicious contents. A subsequent manual inspection at the BOC Inspection Room led to the discovery of 50 live Indian Star Tortoises concealed in his baggage.

Personnel of the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), NAIA Police Station 1, immediately provided perimeter security and assisted in the initial investigation. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was likewise notified and promptly responded to the scene.

Authorities said the passenger had arrived on a flight from Bangkok, Thailand. When asked to present the necessary permits and transport documents for the wildlife specimens, he failed to provide any valid authorization and was subsequently arrested and informed of his constitutional rights.

The rescued tortoises were turned over to the DENR for transfer to the Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City for proper care and disposition, while appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspect for alleged violations of R.A. 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act) and R.A. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
