Statement of Former Health Secretary and Re-elected Representative Cong. Janette "Doc Nanay" Garin
It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the postponement of the ceremonial inauguration of Richard as Mayor of Miagao.
He developed a fever Sunday evening. Monday morning, he had a runny nose and headache. Being a transplant patient, he decided to submit himself for COVID-19 antigen testing. Our fear turned to reality as he tested positive. He has been advised complete bed rest and isolation in the next few days.
With this development, we have no choice but to move his ceremonial oath taking for the safety of all attendees.
As I share this news to you, I hope you join me in praying for Richard's continuous recovery. Let this be a reminder that COVID19 is still here. We tend to forget the faces of infectious diseases, once cases go down.
Richard had two doses of his primary series plus 2 boosters. If he had not been boosted, he would have gone straight to the ICU. Let us be protected while awaiting for the second generation vaccines (Omicron specific)
The COVID pandemic is still here, and we need to take all the necessary precautions to keep ourselves and our loved ones protected. Wear your masks especially if indoors with many people, wash and sanitize your hands, practice social distancing, and have yourselves vaccinated, which should include a booster shot. Well-ventilated places are a big help.
The first 2 doses were enough to protect us from the original COVID19 virus. We needed the booster shot for additional protection considering the mutants. Complete protection means primary series plus a booster shot. The lesser soldiers your body has, the higher are your chances of a severe COVID infection and consequent hospitalization.
We are still at war with a continuously and fast mutating virus. Don't let our guards down while at the same time helping save our economy.
