SAN JACINTO, MASBATE โ A fire incident at the Sitio BLISS Dumpsite on September 5โ6 was successfully contained through the coordinated efforts of the Inter-Agency Task Force, LGU personnel, emergency responders, and residents.
Under the direction of the Incident Commander from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), responding teams worked together to prevent the fire from escalating and spreading to nearby areas. The operation involved personnel from BFP San Jacinto, San Fernando and Monreal; AFP 22nd Infantry Battalion โ Charlie Company; LGU-MENRO, MDRRMO, RHU, GSO, Waterworks, CENRO/PAMO; Philippine Coast Guard; Philippine National Police; Barangay Burgos officials; Barangay Sta. Rosa officials led by Punong Barangay Jover; and BLISS residents.
MDRRMO Engr. JohnMark Dejumo shared that despite the limited resources available during the initial response, the operational plan effectively guided the teams in controlling the incident.
He also expressed his appreciation to SJMC/SMDF Construction for allowing the responders to use their backhoe free of charge, which proved instrumental in spreading soil over the affected waste materials and helping achieve total fire-out.

Mayor Francisco P. Altarejos expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who responded to the incident, emphasizing the importance of unity, coordination, and teamwork in protecting the community during emergencies.
The Mayor particularly thanked the members of the Inter-Agency Task Force, BFP SJ and from other municipalities and all LGU personnel who immediately mobilized and worked tirelessly until the situation was brought under control.
As the municipality continues to experience hot and dry conditions associated with the El Niรฑo phenomenon, the MDRRMO reminded everyone to remain extra vigilant and take preventive measures against fireโespecially in densely populated communities and areas with light-material housing.
