ADSSU Civil Engineering Students Complete OJT at DPWH 2nd DEO

Fourteen fourth-year students of the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering major in Structural Engineering from Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) completed their 30-day, 240-hour On-the-Job Training at the DPWH Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office (ADS 2nd DEO) on August 26, 2026.

DE Ben Alden R. Serna personally sent off the students following the completion of their training as they move closer to finishing their academic journey.

The OJT provided the students with practical experience and exposure to actual civil engineering works in a public office setting

Flooding to Flowing in Kanto Banahaw, ADS

The recurring waterlogging along Kanto Banahaw in Rosario, Agusan del Sur has caused inconvenience and danger to pedestrians and motorists alike, especially at night during rainy weather.

To address the problem, the DPWH Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office installed culverts and cleared clogged canals to improve the flow of rainwater and drainage in the area. The intervention was carried out following complaints from residents in the area.

With improved drainage, residents and motorists can now expect less water accumulation along the roadway, safer and more convenient passage during rainy days, and better protection of the road from water-related deterioration—helping ensure more reliable access for the community.

Newly Completed ADSSU MPB Turned Over

The Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU), formerly ASSCAT, multi-purpose building (MPB) in Barangay San Teodoro, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur, was formally turned over and accepted earlier today, August 14, 2026.

Implemented by the DPWH Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office, the project is funded under GAA 2025. Construction started on April 7, 2025 and was completed on June 6, 2026.

LOOK | Ten (10) Industrial Arts students of the Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU), Batch 2026-2027, successfully concluded their 30- day on-the-job training at the DPWH Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office today, August 14, 2026.

The office is honored to impart valuable knowledge on infrastructural engineering and maintenance, as well as practical experience in workplace ethics and public service delivery.

In the words of DE Ben Alden R. Serna, “DPWH ADS 2nd DEO is not only committed in the realization of national development objectives in this part of the Region, but also in helping shape the career of the next generation of AgSurnon nation-builders.”

LOOK | The Quality Assurance Section (QAS), which recently relocated to a new office within the DPWH Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office main building, was blessed in a simple ceremony on August 7, 2026, following the District’s monthly First Friday Mass.

The blessing is particularly symbolic for the QAS team as it continues to ensure the quality of infrastructure projects, while it conveys as a reminder of their responsibility behind their work and commitment to public service.

Request for Action (RFA) Updates | Clearing the Flow: DPWH ADS 2nd DEO Takes Action on Road Waterlogging at Kanto Banahaw, Rosario

In an effort to improve drainage and address recurring waterlogging affecting road conditions along Kanto Banahaw, Rosario, Agusan del Sur, the DPWH Agusan del Sur 2nd DEO installed culverts and cleared canals as interim measures while a long-term solution is being developed.

The works aim to address public concerns that prompted the July 7, 2026 coordination meeting and joint inspection between representatives from the DPWH Regional Office XIII, the District Engineering Office, and Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC), to assess the affected road section and identify appropriate interventions.

𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐄𝐎 𝐏𝐃𝐒 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐬

The Planning and Design Section (PDS) of the Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office (ADS 2nd DEO) underwent two separate technical audits in July 2026 as part of the Department’s continued efforts to strengthen project planning, design, and cost estimation.

On July 30, 2026, the PDS was subjected to Regional-level Design Audit in preparation for the upcoming Design Audit (DA) 2026 of the Bureau of Design (BOD). The audit team from the Regional Office XIII Planning and Design Division (PDD) was composed of Engr. Edgar O. Bolotaolo, Engr. Jan Dave Agmata, and Engr. Jade Christian A. Gabriel.

The audit covered projects under Highways, Bridges, Buildings, and Road Slope Protection, and focused on the availability and completeness of plans, design calculations, design data, estimates, and other required supporting documents.

Meanwhile, the Cost Estimation Audit, conducted by the Bureau of Construction (BOC), concluded with an exit conference on July 16, 2026. The audit’s objective was to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and proper documentation of project cost estimates in accordance with current DPWH policies and standards.

BOC’s Engr. Allan R. Corpus and Engr. Laurice Anne L. Castillo evaluated the application of indirect cost mark-ups and the use of Cost Estimation Standard Forms under Department Order No. 30, s. 2025; the proper use of cost and price references under Department Order No. 125, s. 2025; hauling cost analysis; and the evaluation of canvassed prices, price quotations, highways equipment dry rental rates, and price-benchmarking computations.

The District attained an overall Very Satisfactory rating of 93.06%, including 99.37% Cost Accuracy and a 93.06% Numerical Rating for the five (5) projects audited.

Earlier today, July 29, 2026, the Agusan del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office (ADS 2nd DEO), with Saloma G. Romarate and Rialle Ann P. Godinez of the DPWH Regional Office XIII Records Division as guest speakers, successfully concluded the cascading workshop on the DPWH Document Tracker (DDT).

Aimed at reinforcing the agency's commitment to efficient and technology-driven public service, the workshop equipped participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for the forthcoming live implementation of the Department's digitalized document tracking and management system for official correspondences.

The workshop was organized and facilitated by the Administrative Section headed by the District's Chief Administrative Officer Fe C. Goyo.
