The DILG La Union Sub-Cluster 1 C/MLGOOs convened for a strategic coordination meeting on June 1, 2026, at the ICT Hall, City Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union, to strengthen collaboration and address pressing matters affecting their district.

Led by MLGOO Marife M. Doculan, the meeting served as a vital platform for dialogue, coordination, and alignment of initiatives geared toward enhancing local governance performance and service delivery.

A key highlight of the activity was the reorientation on the LGUSS–Barangay Information Management System (BIMS), facilitated by ISA I Jillian Rommelee W. Balcita, to further equip the C/MLGOOs with updated knowledge and guidance on the system’s implementation and utilization.

The meeting underscored DILG La Union’s continuing commitment to fostering synergy among field officers and advancing digital governance innovations for more efficient, responsive, and data-driven public service.

The DILG La Union Provincial Office hosted the Joint Monday Flag-Raising Ceremony on June 1, 2026, attended by partner national government agencies, namely the Office of Civil Defense Region I, Commission on Human Rights Region I, Civil Service Commission Field Office I, Bureau of the Treasury, and the Bureau of Plant Quarantine.

The activity highlighted the spirit of solidarity and strengthened inter-agency collaboration, reflecting a shared commitment to delivering responsive, efficient, and people-centered public service.

Following the ceremony, the office participated in the monthly Regional Convocation via Zoom teleconferencing. The convocation served as a platform to align regional initiatives, share updates, and further strengthen coordination in the delivery of public service.

In the afternoon, Provincial Director Virgilio P. Sison, CESO V, presided over the weekly TEAMpuyog staff meeting with provincial office personnel. Updates on the status of programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) were discussed, while key priorities for the coming week were aligned to ensure efficient and results-driven implementation of the Department’s mandates.

Through activities that foster collaboration and strategic coordination, DILG La Union continues to uphold effective governance while nurturing a resilient, service-oriented workforce dedicated to excellence in public service.

In line with the TARABAY ti Proyekto initiative, Local Government Units across La Union actively participated in the Training on Local Road and Bridge Inventory – Roads and Bridges Information System (LRBI-RBIS) conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office from May 26–28, 2026 at J&V Hotel and Resort, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The three-day capability-building activity gathered representatives from the LGUs of Bacnotan, Bagulin, Balaoan, Bangar, Bauang, Burgos, Luna, Naguilian, San Gabriel, San Juan, Santol, and Sudipen, together with personnel from the DILG La Union Provincial Office, underscoring the province’s collective commitment to strengthening local infrastructure governance through innovation and data-driven planning.

The training focused on enhancing participants’ technical competencies in utilizing the Roads and Bridges Information System (RBIS) and Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) for accurate road and bridge inventory management—essential tools in effective infrastructure monitoring, planning, and decision-making.

The activity formally opened with a welcome message from PDMU Chief Daryl Gio M. Galvez, followed by the opening message of Regional Director Jonathan Paul M. Leusen Jr., CESO III, who emphasized the vital role of digital systems in advancing responsive and evidence-based local governance.

Through active participation in discussions and hands-on workshop sessions, the attending LGUs demonstrated their strong commitment to improving local infrastructure data management and fostering more efficient, responsive, and sustainable public service delivery.

Through TARABAY ti Proyekto, DILG continues to empower LGUs in building resilient communities through strengthened technical capacities and collaborative governance.

DILG La Union, through its 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗬 𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗘𝘀𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗮 Program, proudly recognized the successful completion of internship duties of seven (7) student interns from Central Luzon State University, who rendered their 160-hour practicum from May 4 to 28, 2026.

Throughout their internship, the interns were immersed in meaningful administrative and technical tasks, gaining valuable hands-on experience and practical insights into the workings of public service and local governance.

The awarding of certificates marked a significant milestone in their academic journey, recognizing their dedication, hard work, and commitment to learning. Their internship experience provided an avenue to develop competencies essential for future public service leadership.

PD Virgilio P. Sison, CESO V commended the interns for their valuable contributions during their stay and encouraged them to carry forward the knowledge, discipline, and service-oriented values they acquired throughout the program.

Through initiatives like 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗬 𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗘𝘀𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗮, DILG La Union continues to invest in youth development by nurturing future leaders and strengthening the foundation of responsive, effective, and people-centered governance.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) La Union – Project Development and Management Section (PDMS), together with Cluster Head LGOO VII Rocelyn Charina B. Flora and MLGOO Luzviminda A. Lopez, monitored the first tranche of rice distribution funded under the Local Government Support Fund – Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) FY 2026 on May 28, 2026, in the Municipality of Santol.

The activity covered 11 barangays and benefited 2,100 recipients, ensuring the efficient and transparent delivery of government assistance.

Through on-site monitoring and validation, DILG La Union continues to promote accountability, proper fund utilization, and responsive public service for communities.

The DILG La Union Provincial Office extended its TARABAY during the MADAC and BADAC Capacitation cm SICAP-BADAC Orientation held on May 11–12, 2026 in Santol, La Union.

The activity aimed to strengthen the capacities of local anti-drug councils in implementing anti-illegal drug programs and promoting safe, peaceful, and drug-free communities.

LGOO V Vilgladys M. Maglaya discussed the SICAP-BADAC, including the roles and functions of BADAC, BADPA, and the 2026 BADAC Functionality Audit Guidelines.

Through the activity, participants enhanced their understanding of their roles and reinforced their commitment to responsive and accountable anti-drug governance.

The DILG La Union Provincial Office strengthened participatory governance during the People’s Participation Meeting and CSO Agenda Crafting held on May 26, 2026 at the Municipal Hall of Aringay, La Union.

LGOO V Vilgladys M. Maglaya discussed the salient provisions and functions of the Local People’s Council (LPC) and facilitated the crafting of the CSO Agenda, where participating organizations identified priority concerns and proposed initiatives for the municipality.

The activity gathered members of the Local People’s Council composed of accredited and recognized Civil Society Organizations in Aringay.

This initiative reflects DILG La Union’s continued commitment under the TARABAY Program to strengthen partnerships with CSOs and promote transparent, participatory, and accountable local governance.
