In its continued drive to empower and prepare local entrepreneurs, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pampanga successfully conducted a Business Improvement Plan (BIP) Mock Presentation for Batch 1 Pampanga mentees under the KMME-MME Online Program. Designed as a vital preparatory milestone, the mock presentation allowed mentees to present, refine, and elevate their Business Improvement Plans ahead of their actual BIP presentation. It also provided an avenue for meaningful coaching, feedback, and technical inputs to further sharpen their business concepts and presentation delivery.

Each mentee presented their Business Improvement Plan and received constructive comments and recommendations aimed at enhancing viability, clarity, and overall business strategy. The session was led by Acting Division Chief Emil Paolo Galang, together with TIDS Arlene Gomez, Provincial KMME Coordinator, TIDS Carl Mejia, NC-TIDS Miah Minerva Gatbonton, and TIDA Ma. Sugar Cafè began as a simple business idea that aimed to provide affordable and high-quality drinks and comfort food for students, families, and young professionals. Behind the business is an entrepreneur whose journey was shaped by faith, resilience, and continuous learning. Starting as an independent distributor selling various products and food franchise offerings, the owner developed strong communication and sales skills through years of networking and direct selling. When e-commerce emerged in 2017, another opportunity opened, leading to the creation of an online business. Eventually, a bold decision to move to Pampanga and reconnect with a mentor inspired a new venture into the milk tea and coffee industry. Despite challenges and changes in the market, the entrepreneur chose to adapt, focus on growth, and fully commit to building what is now Sugar Cafe.

Through participation in programs and learning opportunities conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry, the owner further strengthened entrepreneurial knowledge and business management skills. The training introduced valuable concepts such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) for marketing and customer engagement, as well as the Business Model Canvas (BMC), which helped clarify the café’s target market, value proposition, and growth opportunities. More importantly, the experience reinforced the values of discipline, perseverance, innovation, and continuous improvement, helping transform Sugar Cafe into a more confident, strategic, and sustainable enterprise.

Today, Sugar Cafe continues to grow as a welcoming café that offers a wide variety of customer favorites including milk tea, coffee, waffles, ramen, takoyaki, snacks, and other comfort food selections. With its commitment to quality, affordability, and excellent customer experience, Sugar Cafe invites everyone to enjoy its delicious offerings and become part of its inspiring journey of passion, perseverance, and success.
