READ | PSA advances regional efforts to strengthen trade statistics through 12th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Int’l Merchandise Trade Statistics

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) demonstrated its commitment to advancing high-quality official statistics and strengthening regional statistical cooperation as it hosted the 12th Meeting of the Working Group on International Merchandise Trade Statistics (WGIMTS) of the ASEAN Community Statistical System (ACSS).

Conducted from 22–23 July 2026 at the PSA Headquarters in Quezon City, the meeting brought together representatives from ASEAN Member States, along with host country representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Discussions focused on data harmonization and initiatives to enhance the quality, consistency, and comparability of International Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS) in support of evidence-based policymaking and regional economic integration.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in partnership with the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Business Insights Laboratory for Development (BUILD) and its Technical Resource Lab (TRL), successfully conducted the National ID Forum: Utilizing the National ID for Financial Services on 07 August 2026.

The day-long forum convened 45 representatives from banks and other financial institutions to streamline the adoption of the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) across the banking sector.

The PSA continues to work closely with various government agencies, financial institutions, and development partners to expand the use of the National ID.

READ | PSA brings civil registry services closer to Filipinos through the expansion of CRS mobile outlets

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) continues to make civil registration services more accessible by expanding its Civil Registry System (CRS) Mobile Outlets, enabling Filipinos in remote and underserved communities to obtain civil registry documents without the need for long and costly travel.

In support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring public services faster and closer to Filipinos, the PSA continues to deploy CRS mobile outlets in strategic locations nationwide. Equipped with onsite printing capabilities, these mobile outlets enable faster processing and same-day issuance of civil registry documents, making essential government services more accessible and efficient.

The PSA recently launched dedicated mobile outlets in Ifugao and Bataan, bringing the total number of mobile outlets nationwide to 24. During its first three days of operations, the CRS mobile outlet in Ifugao successfully processed 301 client transactions and issued 323 civil registry documents to Ifugaonons, providing efficient same-day service.

With the continued expansion of its onsite and digital services, the PSA remains focused on providing Filipinos with more accessible and efficient civil registration services across the country and overseas.

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office 01 (PSA-RSSO 01), in cooperation with the Environment and Natural Resources Accounts Division (ENRAD) of the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS) of the PSA Central Office, conducted the Workshop on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting – Central Framework (SEEA-CF) in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, from 25 to 26 August 2026.

The activity brought together participants from PSA-RSSO 01, Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs), various regional government agencies, provincial government offices, CENRO offices, and the academe, providing a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building in environmental-economic accounting.

The workshop aimed to enhance the participants’ technical knowledge and understanding of the SEEA-CF, an international statistical framework that integrates environmental and economic data to provide a comprehensive understanding of the interactions between the environment and the economy. It also sought to strengthen participants’ capacity in data compilation, management, and utilization to support evidence-based planning, policy formulation, and sustainable development.
