The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Ilocos Region, through its Human Resource Management Unit (HRMU) headed by Assistant Regional Director Mercy Q. The program opened with a warm welcome from Regional Director Dr. Teresita A. The orientation equipped participants with essential knowledge on DOST Ilocos Regionโs programs and services, workplace policies and systems, compensation and benefits, ethical standards, and their roles and responsibilities as government employees.
The learning sessions featured Ms. Beverlyn B. Cardinez, who discussed the Brief Introduction to DOST Ilocos Region, Office Policies, COS Compensation and Benefits, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Employees, Duties and Responsibilities, and Leave Benefits; Ms. Mary Ann B. Ofiana on Basic GAD Concepts; Ms. Sheriel Mae P. Gapasin on 7S in the Workplace, Permanent Compensation and Benefits, and the Magna Carta for Science and Technology Personnel; Mr. Edrussell S. Castillo on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM); Ms. Ginee R. Tacasa on the Quality Management System (QMS); and Ms. Venus P. Andaya on SIKAT Benefits and DOST Ilocos Region Mutual Aid Fund Benefits. To complement the technical sessions, Ms. Roselindy A. Quilop and Mr. Roviel B. Ducusin facilitated the interactive activities, fostering camaraderie and meaningful connections among the participants.
More than an introduction to policies, programs, and procedures, the onboarding program served as a meaningful first step for DOST Ilocos Regionโs newest employees as they embark on a shared journey of service, collaboration, and innovation. The activity culminated in an awarding ceremony recognizing the top-scoring participants, highlighting their active participation, commitment to learning, and exemplary performance throughout the program. With the guidance of the Departmentโs leadership and the collective support of the DOST Ilocos Region team, the newly hired and promoted employees officially begin their journey as part of the DOSTOneSciglat Familyโready to serve, ready to innovate, and ready to make a difference through STI-driven public service.
