The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I (DOLE RO I) reinforced its commitment to workforce development and employment promotion through its engagement in two Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-led activities in Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan.

During the Ilocos Norte Workforce Development Program and Partnership Award on June 17, 2026, DOLE ROI presented its DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP), highlighting the Department’s initiatives to provide short term employment and sustainable livelihood to disadvantaged workers. Regional Director Honorina D. Baga emphasized the importance of collaboration among government agencies, local government units, employers, and other partners in preparing a skilled and competitive workforce responsive to industry needs.

In recognition of the Department’s valuable contributions to employment facilitation and workforce development initiatives, the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Ilocos Norte presented Certificates of Recognition to DOLE RO I and Director Baga during the event.

On June 18, Director Baga lauded employers, recruitment agencies, government partners, and stakeholders during the first-ever Pangasinan Employer Recognition Awards (PERA) 2026 held in Lingayen, Pangasinan. She recognized employers, recruitment agencies, and partner stakeholders for their active participation in job fairs, recruitment activities, and other employment facilitation initiatives that help connect jobseekers with decent and productive employment opportunities.

Anchored on the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the leadership of Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, DOLE remains committed to strengthening partnerships and implementing responsive labor and employment programs that advance inclusive growth and quality employment opportunities in the region.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀

As part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with local leaders in Region I, Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I (DOLE ROI) Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga paid courtesy visits to key officials in Ilocos Norte to discuss programs and initiatives that promote employment, livelihood, and workers' welfare on June 17, 2026.

Following her engagements in La Union, Director Baga met with Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, Second District Representative Angelo Marcos Barba, and representatives from the Office of First District Representative Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" A. Marcos III.

The courtesy visits served as an avenue to discuss possible areas of collaboration in implementing DOLE programs and services, particularly in employment facilitation, livelihood opportunities, workers' welfare, and workforce development. Director Baga also emphasized Labor Secretary Francis “TOL” Tolentino's thrust of strengthening partnerships with local government units and stakeholders to ensure that government services effectively reach needy workers and communities.

These engagements reaffirm DOLE Region I's commitment to working closely with local leaders and stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of labor and employment programs and services for the people of Ilocos Norte.

In line with the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to strengthen workplace resilience and promote a culture of preparedness among workers and employers, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I (DOLE RO1), under the leadership of Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga, joined the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 18, 2026.

At the sounding of the alarm at 9:00 a.m., employees immediately carried out the recommended “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique and proceeded with a systematic evacuation from their workstations.

The exercise joined by personnel from the Regional Office and the La Union Field Office in San Fernando City, as well as DOLE field offices in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Vigan City, Ilocos Sur; Rosales, Dagupan City, and Alaminos City in Pangasinan.

Conducted every quarter, the NSED serves as a platform to promote disaster awareness and strengthen the capability of government personnel to respond effectively during earthquake emergencies. Through activities such as these, DOLE RO1 continues to foster a culture of preparedness and resilience in the workplace.

To strengthen the Department’s mandate to uphold labor justice and maintain industrial peace, Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino is constituting the Labor Attorneys’ Office (LAO) to provide free legal assistance for workers, and organizing the Workers’ Legal Representation Unit and Labor Justice Clinics to further protect workers’ rights through the recently signed Department Order No. 258-26.
