The Schools Division Office of Sagay proudly conducted the Training Workshop and Oath-Taking Ceremony under the Expanded Career Progression Program – Batch 1 held at Sagay National High School on May 29, 2026.

A total of 191 promoted teachers officially took their oath, marking another milestone in their professional journey as educators committed to excellence, leadership, and quality education.

One of the highlights of the event was the inspiring message from resource speaker Jerson Donasco, Principal of Sagay National High School who reminded the participants:

“Let your light shine in your respective classrooms.”

His message encouraged teachers to continue inspiring learners, serving with passion, and becoming beacons of hope in their schools and communities.

Meanwhile, SDS Dannie Clark M. Uguil reminded the newly promoted teachers that promotion comes with a greater purpose and responsibility.

“The promotion is not the destination, but a responsibility in greater force. I understand the journey, and I know the journey will never be easy — there were moments of waiting and moments of uncertainty...”

🥇🥇 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑵𝑰𝑹 – 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑺𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒚 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚!

Today marks a proud and historic moment for DepEd Negros Island Region (NIR) as Sagay City athletes bagged two gold medal victories at the Palarong Pambansa held at the D.O. Plaza Government Center Sports Complex.

Marjen Iwayan, representing the Schools Division Office of Sagay City, secured the first gold medal for Team Visayan Vipers after dominating the Elementary Girls Javelin Throw. Her outstanding performance gave NIR its breakthrough victory in this year’s national meet and showcased the strength, preparation, and determination of Sagay City’s young athletes.

Adding to the celebration, Jonel Metoda Jr. of Filomeno Pascual Elementary School captured another gold medal in the Elementary Boys Javelin Throw, making it two golds for NIR- Sagay City.

Under the guidance of their trainers and coaches, both athletes demonstrated excellence, discipline, and perseverance as they proudly carried the banner of Team Visayan Vipers on the national sports competition.

SDO Sagay City proudly served as the host of the Regional Training of Trainers (RTOT) for the Revised Grades 6, 9, and 10 in GMRC and Values Education Curriculum.
