Before entering a river or creek, lake and other bodies of water prioritize safety with these tips:

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Casualty rescued from a collapsed building in Zebuthiri Township, Naypyidaw, Myanmar earlier this morning March 30, 2025 by the Operation Lionheart (OLH) of the Singapore Civil Defense Force (Search nd Rescue Team).

A strong 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on Friday, March 28, 2025, also affecting Bangkok, where hundreds of people poured out of buildings in panic after feeling the tremors. The epicentre was about 17.2 km from the city of Mandalay.

𝐊𝐄𝐘 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒:

If you find yourself trapped under rubble during an earthquake, follow these steps to maximize your chances of survival and rescue:

1. Stay Calm:
Control your breathing to avoid panic and conserve oxygen. Avoid moving excessively, as this may dislodge debris and worsen your situation.

2. Protect Your Airway:
Cover your nose and mouth with cloth (e.g., clothing) to filter dust. Avoid shouting unless necessary; use other signals to conserve energy and reduce dust inhalation.

3. Check for Injuries:
Assess yourself for injuries. If bleeding, apply pressure with available fabric. Avoid removing impaled objects; stabilize them if possible.

4.Signal for Help:
Tap on pipes, walls, or solid objects three times (universal distress signal).
Use a phone flashlight or whistle intermittently if available.
Shout only as a last resort when you hear rescuers nearby.

5.Conserve Resources:
Ration water (if available) and avoid consuming liquids from unsafe sources.

A. During the Earthquake:

1. Indoors:

Drop, Cover, and Hold On: Immediately drop to your hands and knees to avoid being knocked over. Take cover under a sturdy table or desk. Hold on to the furniture and stay covered until shaking stops.

No Shelter Nearby?, Move to an interior wall (away from windows), crouch, and protect your head and neck with your arms.

Stay in Bed: If you’re in bed, stay there, cover your head with a pillow, and hold on.

Avoid Hazards: Stay away from windows, mirrors, heavy objects, and shelves. Do not use elevators.

2. Outdoors:

Lock Wheels: Secure your chair and protect your head/neck with your arms or a pillow.

Immediately After the Earthquake:

1. Expect Aftershocks:Be ready to drop, cover, and hold on again.

2. Check for Injuries: Administer first aid if trained.

3. Evacuate if Necessary: Exit buildings if unsafe (use stairs, not elevators). Avoid damaged structures.

4. Avoid Hazards:Watch for gas leaks (don’t use flames), downed power lines, and broken glass.

5. Stay Informed:Use a battery-powered radio for emergency updates. Avoid phone use except for emergencies.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: The remaining four foreign nationals who had been missing for over three days while trekking at Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park in Negros Oriental province, Philippines, have been safely located. This concludes the search operation, with all six individuals now accounted for. The initial two trekkers were recovered yesterday, and the final four were found earlier today.

The individuals were rescued by Team Malabo, Sibulan’s renowned search-and-rescue (SAR) unit. According to reports, the pair admitted they had wandered off the established trail to take photos, disregarding trail markers, and became disoriented due to dense fog.

1. Hire local guides- when exploring unfamiliar outdoor terrain—their expertise ensures safety and navigation awareness.

𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐄 𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂: Day 3 of the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Emergency Response Capability Training conducted last February 4-7, 2025 at Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades (ASSAT), Campus Prosperidad Agusan del Sur.

Participants underwent individual skills training assessments to evaluate their understanding and application of the theories and skills taught throughout the sessions. This hands-on assessment ensures that everyone is fully prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.
