The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 1 continues to strengthen its campaign against the illegal use of unauthorized blinkers, sirens, and flashing devices on motor vehicles in line with its commitment to ensuring safer and more disciplined roads for the motoring public.

In line with the directive of President Ferdinand β€œBongBong” R. Marcos Jr. to uphold public safety and strengthen the enforcement of transportation laws nationwide, the agency remains proactive in implementing measures that promote discipline, accountability, and responsible road use among motorists and vehicle owners.

Under the guidance of DOTr Acting Secretary Atty. Giovanni Z. Lopez and LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, the LTO continues to intensify its law enforcement initiatives aimed at curbing the unauthorized use of special signaling devices and ensuring strict compliance with existing transportation regulations.

LTO Region 1, under the leadership of Regional Director Glorioso Daniel Z. Martinez and Assistant Regional Director Engr. Eric C. Suriben, through its Regional Law Enforcement Section (RLES), personally coordinated with the owner of Tandoc Funeral Services regarding the unauthorized installation of blinkers and sirens on one of their motor vehicles. During the dialogue, the owner expressed full cooperation and voluntarily surrendered the unauthorized equipment to the LTO Lingayen District Office for proper disposition and documentation.

The operation was conducted in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 96 and Republic Act No. 4136, which prohibit the unauthorized use of sirens, blinkers, bells, whistles, flashing lights, and similar devices on private motor vehicles. These laws are intended to prevent misuse of signaling equipment, avoid confusion among motorists, and maintain peace and order on public roads.

The voluntary surrender of the unauthorized devices demonstrates the establishment’s willingness to comply with transportation laws and highlights the importance of cooperation between government agencies and the private sector in promoting road safety. LTO Region 1 likewise reiterates its commitment to continuously enforce traffic laws and regulations in support of a safer, more orderly, and law-abiding transport environment for all.
