BUILDING HOPE BEHIND BARS: MASONRY NC II GRADUATES BEGIN A NEW CHAPTER
LOOK: On June 1, 2026, the jail facility celebrated the Graduation Ceremony of the Masonry NC II Training Program for the twenty five (25) persons deprived of liberty in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. The event marked a significant milestone for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) who completed the program, proving that even behind bars, learning and personal growth never stop.
For the graduates, the training was not only about acquiring technical skills in masonry. It was about rebuilding confidence, restoring dignity, and preparing for a better future outside the jail walls. Through weeks of hands-on learning, discipline, and perseverance, the participants learned that every hollow block they laid represented a step toward rebuilding their lives.
The ceremony became more meaningful with the presence of distinguished TESDA officials and BJMP personnel who continuously support rehabilitation and reintegration programs within the facility.
In his inspirational message, Baron Jose L. Lagran, CESE, TESDA MIMAROPA Regional Director, emphasized the importance of technical education in changing lives. He reminded the graduates that skills and determination can open doors to new opportunities and encouraged them to use their newly acquired knowledge as a foundation for a productive future.
Meanwhile, Atty. Glenn Niño M. Sartillo, TESDA Romblon Provincial Director III, delivered words of encouragement that inspired the graduates to continue believing in themselves despite the challenges they had faced. He highlighted that rehabilitation is possible when individuals are given proper guidance, opportunity, and support.
Filled with gratitude and pride, JSINSP EMELY B MALEN expressed her appreciation to TESDA and all stakeholders for their unwavering partnership in empowering PDLs through skills development programs. She acknowledged the determination of the graduates who chose to improve themselves and embrace positive change.
As certificates were handed to each graduate, smiles and quiet tears reflected a deeper meaning behind the ceremony. For many of them, the diploma was more than a piece of paper—it was proof that their mistakes do not define their future.
The Masonry NC II Graduation served as a powerful reminder that rehabilitation is not only about confinement, but also about transformation. Through education, compassion, and opportunity, lives can be rebuilt one brick at a time.
