ROMBLON, Romblonโ€“ Demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable community development, personnel of the Romblon Police Provincial Office (PPO), led by PCMS Vic Marlon M. Meran, PPPU PNCO, together with personnel of the Romblon Municipal Police Station (MPS), Romblon Provincial Mobile Force Company (RPMFC) 4th Platoon headed by PCPT ANDRES D BOLINGET, Platoon Leader and barangay officials, conducted a tree planting activity at Sitio Tagaytay, Brgy. Lonos, Romblon, Romblon on September 4, 2026.

A total of 100 assorted fruit-bearing tree seedlings were successfully planted during the activity, contributing to environmental conservation efforts and promoting food sustainability within the community.

The initiative forms part of PROJECT T.R.E.E. (Take Responsibility for the Enhancement of the Environment), the flagship environmental program of PRO MIMAROPA, which aims to strengthen ecological resilience, restore degraded environments, and encourage active community participation in preserving the region's natural resources. Through collaborative activities such as tree planting, the Philippine National Police continues to demonstrate that public safety extends beyond crime prevention to include the protection and preservation of the environment.

ROMBLON, Romblon โ€“ In line with the observance of the 32nd National Crime Prevention Week, personnel of the Romblon Police Provincial Office (PPO), led by PLTCOL ALLAN R RUBA, Deputy Provincial Director for Administrations (DPDA), conducted a symposium on Safe Touch and Bad Touch,Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, and Republic Act No. 10627 or the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 at Agbaluto Elementary School headed by Ms. Lea M. Manungay, Principal I in Brgy. Agbaluto, Romblon, Romblon, on September 4, 2026.

The activity was attended by Grade I to Grade VI pupils, teachers, parents, and school staff, aiming to strengthen awareness on child protection, promote a safe learning environment, and educate the participants on recognizing inappropriate behaviors, preventing bullying, and understanding the legal protections afforded to women and children under Philippine laws.

During the symposium, PCpl Cheradee M Mazo, WCPD PNCO emphasized the importance of speaking up against abuse, fostering open communication between children and trusted adults, and encouraging parents, educators, and community members to work together in safeguarding the welfare of every child. The discussion also underscored the role of schools and families in preventing violence, bullying, and other forms of abuse through vigilance, education, and timely intervention.

WANTED PERSON ARRESTED IN SAN ANDRES, ROMBLON FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

SAN ANDRES, ROMBLON โ€” A wanted person facing a charge for Attempted Murder was arrested by joint law enforcement personnel at about 10:00 PM on September 3, 2026, in San Andres, Romblon.

The operation was led by the CIDG Romblon Provincial Field Unit (PFU), in coordination with the San Andres Municipal Police Station (MPS), RIU 4B-PIT Romblon, Romblon RIT, RID PRO MIMAROPA, and Romblon MARPSTA.

The accused was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest dated September 3, 2026, issued by Hon. Edwin B. Buffe, Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 82, Odiongan, Romblon, for Attempted Murder, docketed under Criminal Case No. OD-3028, with a recommended bail of PHP 120,000.00.

Following the arrest, the accused was placed under the custody of the CIDG Romblon PFU for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate legal proceedings.

MAN APPREHENDED FOR ALLEGED ILLEGAL LOGGING IN SAN FERNANDO

SAN FERNANDO, ROMBLON โ€” A 40-year-old man was apprehended for alleged violation of PD 705, as amended by EO No. 277, during an anti-illegal logging operation conducted by DENR-PAMO Romblon, in coordination with San Fernando MPS, on September 3, 2026, at Sitio Olango, Brgy. Espaรฑa, San Fernando, Romblon.

The suspect was reportedly caught in the act while holding an axe beside a freshly cut Balaw tree measuring approximately 30 centimeters in diameter and 30 feet in length, with an estimated volume of 273.9 board feet and an estimated value of โ‚ฑ13,695.00.

The suspect is currently under the custody of San Fernando MPS for documentation and the preparation of appropriate charges for alleged violation of Section 77 of PD 705, as amended by EO No. 277, for filing before the proper office/court.

The Romblon Police Provincial Office, together with DENR and other partner agencies, remains committed to protecting the provinceโ€™s forests and natural resources through sustained enforcement and inter-agency cooperation.

DENR-PENRO, CALATRAVA MPS RECOVER ABANDONED SAWN LUMBER WORTH OVER โ‚ฑ41,000 IN CALATRAVA

CALATRAVA, ROMBLON โ€” Authorities recovered abandoned sawn lumber with an estimated value of โ‚ฑ41,364.00 during a joint operation conducted by the DENR-PENRO and Calatrava MPS on September 2, 2026, at Sitio Tondo, Brgy. Linao, Calatrava, Romblon.

The operation was initiated after a DENR informant reported the presence of abandoned sawn lumber in the area. At about 3:45 PM, a Forest Ranger of DENR-PENRO personally sought security assistance from Calatrava MPS. Acting on the report, the Forest Ranger of DENR-PENRO, together with personnel of Calatrava MPS and assisted by Barangay Official of Brgy. Linao, proceeded to the reported location.

Upon arrival, the team recovered several pieces of sawn lumber consisting of Mahogany and Narra, with a total volume of 248.46 board feet and an estimated value of โ‚ฑ41,364.00. The recovered lumber was subsequently placed under the custody of DENR-PENRO for proper disposition in accordance with existing environmental laws, rules, and regulations. The owner or person responsible for the abandoned lumber remains unidentified.

The successful recovery highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination and community participation in protecting the provinceโ€™s forest resources and preventing the illegal cutting, transport, and possession of forest products.

2 DRUG SUSPECTS ARRESTED, โ‚ฑ34,000 WORTH OF SUSPECTED SHABU AND AM******ON RECOVERED IN CAJIDIOCAN

CAJIDIOCAN, ROMBLON โ€” Two individuals were arrested during a joint drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Cajidiocan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Romblon Provincial Office at about 9:50 PM on September 2, 2026, at Sitio Puntaki, Brgy. Poblacion, Cajidiocan, Romblon.

The arrested individuals were identified by authorities as a high-value target (HVT) drug personality and a street-level individual (SLI) drug personality. The operation was conducted by joint operatives of the Cajidiocan MPS-MDEU, led by PLT PETER R RIOS under the direct supervision of PCPT MARY JADE M GACA, OIC, and the PDEA MIMAROPA Romblon Provincial Office, under the supervision of IA V Rommela F Colis and led by IO II Phaty V Toca. The operation was covered by Certificate of Coordination (COC) No. 5-00-09022026-005.

During the operation, authorities recovered thirteen (13) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, with a total estimated weight of 5 grams and an estimated street value of โ‚ฑ34,000.00. Also recovered were drug paraphernalia, including crumpled strips and rolled aluminum foil, lighters with improvised burners, a blue pouch, a coin purse, an open plastic sachet, and marked buy-bust money. Authorities likewise recovered five (5) rounds of Cal. 9mm am******on and nine (9) rounds of Cal. .38 am******on. The recovered pieces of evidence were inventoried and documented at the place of the incident in the presence of the arrested individuals and witnesses, including a media representative and a barangay official, in accordance with established procedures.

The confiscated suspected dangerous drugs will be submitted to the Romblon Forensic Unit in Odiongan, Romblon, for qualitative examination. The arrested individuals will likewise undergo appropriate drug testing and other necessary procedures.

The suspects are currently under the custody of Cajidiocan MPS for documentation and proper disposition. Cases for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Section 3(b) of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Fi****ms and Am******on Regulation Act) are being prepared for filing before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor for inquest proceedings.

The operation underscores the continuing efforts of the Romblon Police Provincial Office, in coordination with PDEA and other law enforcement partners, to suppress the illegal drug trade and other unlawful activities and maintain peace and security in the province.

ROMBLON PPO EMPOWERS MEN THROUGH CRIME PREVENTION ADVOCACY DURING 32ND NCPW OUTREACH PROGRAM

Romblon, Romblon โ€“ In line with the observance of the 32nd National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW), the Romblon Police Provincial Office (PPO) led by PLTCOL LEDILYN Y AMBONAN, Chief PCADU conducted a lecture and outreach program focused on empowering men in the community as partners in preventing crimes and promoting a safer environment on September 2, 2026, at Brgy. Bagacay, Romblon, Romblon.

The activity was attended by 33 male participants who actively engaged in discussions and awareness activities centered on crime prevention, responsible citizenship, and the role of men in building a peaceful and secure community.

As part of the outreach initiative, 33 food packs were distributed to the participants as a gesture of support and appreciation for their active participation in the advocacy program.

The program featured informative lectures delivered by resource speakers, including Atty. Adrian F Ducat, NAPOLCOM Provincial officer who discussed Violence Against Women (VAW), highlighting the importance of respect, accountability, and the role of men in preventing all forms of violence against women. Meanwhile, PCPT ANDREA MARIE M ANDRES, Provincial Legal Officer tackled the provisions of the Anti-Rape Law, emphasizing awareness, prevention, and the shared responsibility of every individual in protecting human dignity and promoting justice.

The activity gathered personnel from the Romblon PPO, Romblon Municipal Police Station, Romblon Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC)-4th Platoon, PNP Maritime Unit, Philippine Retirement and Benefits Unit (PRBU)-Romblon, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Milo Boys, Marble Cycling Association (MCA) and other stakeholders who joined the ride to show unity in the campaign against criminality and to promote a safer and more vigilant community.

With the theme โ€œStrengthening Civilian Oversight and Collective Action for Safer Communities,โ€ the activity highlighted the importance of active partnership among law enforcement agencies, government offices, and the public in sustaining peace and order. It also served as a reminder that crime prevention is a shared responsibility that requires continuous cooperation, awareness, and community involvement.

The biking activity further encouraged public participation and strengthened camaraderie among partner agencies, while reinforcing the message that a safer community can be achieved through collective action and disciplined citizenship with almost 80 participants.

During the symposium, Atty. Adrian F. Ducat, NAPOLCOM Provincial Officer for Romblon, discussed the significance of the observance of the National Crime Prevention Week and delivered an informative lecture on anti-bullying, school safety, and security. The program also featured the recital of the Pledge of Pagtataya ng Mamamayan sa Paghadlang sa Krimen led by PLTCOL LEDILYN Y AMBONAN, Chief, PCADU and the simultaneous blowing of whistles under the "Pito Tayo Laban sa Krimen" Campaign, symbolizing the collective commitment of students, educators, law enforcement personnel, and community stakeholders to support crime prevention initiatives and uphold peace and order.

The symposium reinforced the crucial role of the youth as catalysts for positive change and responsible citizenship. By strengthening partnerships between educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and the community, the activity fostered greater awareness that crime prevention is a shared responsibility requiring active participation from every sector of society.

The Romblon Police Provincial Office remains steadfast in advancing community-based crime prevention programs through sustained collaboration with the academe, government agencies, and other stakeholders, in support of the Philippine National Police's commitment to "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman."
