MLGOO, MADAC, BADAC, AND PARTNER AGENCIES UNITE FOR HEALTH, FAITH, AND AWARENESS PROGRAM IN POBLACION
The Office of the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO), headed by Mr. Chester Baltazar Reynante, in collaboration with the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) Team headed by MADAC Focal Person - Mrs. Maureen D. Valdez from the RHU Quirino, successfully spearheaded a health, wellness, and spiritual awareness event last April 24 at the New Barangay Hall of Kindabdab, Poblacion, Quirino, Ilocos Sur.
The event gathered the active participation of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) of Brgy. Poblacion, along with key representatives from various concerned agencies, including the Quirino Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Quirino. It featured an educational symposium and faith-sharing activities that fostered community spirit and unity followed by a lively Zumba session to promote physical fitness,
A major highlight of the day was the symposium on Substance Use/Abuse and its Health Effects, conducted by Dr. Shiela Magel A. Ramon, a passionate and dedicated Doctor to the Barrio. Dr. Ramon discussed the serious physical, mental, and emotional consequences of substance abuse, stressing the importance of preventive education, early intervention, and strong community action.
Adding a spiritual touch, the National Chaplain of the Philippines and the Pastoral Forum Group, led by Pastor Pedro Oticao and Pastor Ronald B. Carbonell, shared reflections on the healing power of faith. They emphasized that while substance abuse can destroy lives, redemption and restoration are always possible through the grace of God, prayer, and community support.
In his welcome message, Punong Barangay Hon. John L. Lagadan Jr. expressed gratitude to all agencies, organizations, and residents for their collaboration and commitment. He emphasized that it is through collective effort that the barangay can maintain peace, health, and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Barangay Councilor and Barangay Committee on Health Mary Ann Agustin praised the unwavering dedication of the BADAC members and stakeholders. She urged everyone to remain vigilant and proactive, especially for the sake of the younger generation, saying, "Protecting our community is everyone's responsibility."
The active participation of the Quirino MPS and BFP Quirino further highlighted the spirit of solidarity among the sectors, ensuring that the event not only addressed substance abuse but also promoted overall public safety and emergency readiness.
In his closing message, MLGOO Chester Reynante commended the unity and collaboration among the agencies, the faith sector, and the barangay, emphasizing that such holistic efforts are essential in building a healthier, drug-free, and spiritually empowered community.
The event concluded with smiles, strengthened partnerships, and a renewed commitment to work together for the betterment of Poblacion, Quirino, Ilocos Sur.
