“As you face a new chapter, I hope that you will stay steadfast in the principles that brought you to this calling. Do not be swayed by fleeting opinions or the allure of convenience. So long as you remain anchored in integrity, fairness, and truth, you shall never lose your way.”

As Guest of Honor at the 3rd Commencement Exercises of the West Visayas State University (WVSU) College of Law, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged the 24 Juris Doctor graduates to uphold justice, integrity, and service as they embark on their legal careers and contribute to the building of a stronger Bagong Pilipinas.

Among those in attendance was First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, who serves as a faculty member of the WVSU College of Law since 2022 and has personally guided many of the graduating class through their legal education.

The President reminded the graduates that the legal profession is defined not only by intellect and expertise, but by character, accountability, and a deep sense of responsibility to protect the rights of every Filipino, especially the poor, the vulnerable, and those most in need of the law’s protection.

The President emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to fostering a more competitive and investor-friendly business environment through key economic reforms, supporting the continued expansion of bilateral trade and investment. He also called for deeper cooperation in digital innovation, manufacturing, food security, MSME development, and supply chain resilience, particularly as the Philippines chairs ASEAN in 2026, while inviting investors to explore opportunities in high-value industries and sustainable growth sectors.

“The Philippines is positioning itself as a premier destination for smart, sustainable manufacturing and high-value services. We are open to partnership, ready for investment, and eager to work with you in creating new opportunities for growth.”
