QUEZON, ISABELA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela Provincial Office, in coordination with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Quezon, assisted Christian Rol R. Duka and Regine L. Jabagat, Architecture students from the College of Architecture and Fine Arts of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP)–Manila, during their research visit to the municipality on September 15, 2026.
The students are undertaking their Capstone Study under Architectural Design 9, which envisions a convention and tourism facility that will showcase bamboo as a valuable local resource and an emerging industry in Isabela. The proposed facility aims to provide a venue for promoting bamboo-based products and enterprises, supporting tourism and cultural activities, hosting exhibitions and events, and raising awareness of bamboo's role in sustainable development and the local economy.
As part of their research, the students interviewed Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) Jesusa Bangngagan and local bamboo processors to gain insights into the industry's current operations, challenges, and opportunities. They also visited the Bamboo Processing Center and Bamboo Treatment Facility to observe firsthand how bamboo is processed and transformed into useful products.
The interviews and site visits provided the students with a better understanding of the technical, environmental, and economic considerations relevant to their proposed architectural project. The knowledge and insights gathered are expected to guide them in further developing and refining their capstone study.
DTI Isabela continues to support initiatives that promote the sustainable utilization of local resources and the development of emerging industries, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, tourism, and community development.
