The PHIVOLCS Earthquake Intensity Scale (PEIS) is used to measure the intensity of an earthquake. The measurement is based on how people experience the earthquake and its effects on objects, structures, and the environment.

The general public and various sectors are encouraged to participate in the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Through the joint efforts of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Ayala Property Management Corporation (APMC), the ceremonial pressing of the button for the NSED will be held at 1:00 p.m. This will be followed by the nationwide ceremonial pressing of the button at 2:00 p.m., signaling the start of Duck, Cover, and Hold.

Join the earthquake drill to familiarize yourself with the proper safety procedures and be better prepared in the event of an earthquake.

For announcements, important reminders, and other safety information, visit the Civil Defense PH and NDRRMC pages.
