HSEU IN ACTION | Nationwide Cervical Cancer Screening Day

The Health Surveillance and Epidemiology Unit (HSEU) observes the National Cervical Cancer Prevention Awareness Month by participating in the Nationwide Cervical Cancer Screening Day with a theme: Para sa Cervical Cancer -Free Na Pilipinas: Alamin, Iwasan, Labanan ang Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) last 21 - 22 May 2026 held at Medical Center Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The activity graced by COL CELESTE Z FRANCISCO MC (GSC), Chief, HSEU and Committee Chair for Community Service of Philippine Society of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy (PSCPC) together with COL QUINNIE LYDA DL GERONIMO MC (GSC) , Head, Dept of OB- GYNE, VLMC.

Understanding that early detection is crucial for saving lives, this initiative focuses on enhancing access to vital screening services, raising awareness about cervical cancer prevention, and reaffirming a commitment to accessible healthcare for all.

HSEU | Public Health Advisory: Ebola Virus Disease (Bundibugyo Ebolavirus) Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.

Recent developments have declared the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (Bundibugyo Ebolavirus) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). While the overall risk remains low locally, global vigilance and preparedness are essential to prevent further spread.

The Health Surveillance and Epidemiology Unit (HSEU), in collaboration with Medical Center AFP, urges all personnel and healthcare facilities to stay alert, reinforce infection control measures, and report any suspected cases immediately.
Remember to:

- Maintain rigorous hygiene and sanitation practices
- Avoid contact with bodily fluids and infected individuals
- Follow proper waste management protocols
- Seek medical attention promptly if symptoms such as fever, headache, bleeding, or respiratory issues occur.
- MTF's: Conduct TIE on their respective units;
Obtain detailed travel and exposure histories
Monitor and check supply inventory;
Coordinate with local agencies if needed
