| Stakeholders pushed for clearer agency-specific actions to promote the use of locally produced coconut products and by-products in government projects and activities during the 3rd Quarter Meeting of the National Sectoral Committee (NSC) on Coconut held on September 2, 2026.

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) reported that it continues to refine the proposed Executive Orders to promote the use of coconut-based products and to declare coconut a national industrial crop, with the final draft targeted for submission to PCAF by the end of September 2026. To further support the industry, the agency also showcased six mature technologies, including coconut-enriched cheese, cocopeat-based bio-organic fertilizer, post-harvest mechanization, and technologies for high-value coconut products—highlighting opportunities to create greater value from coconut beyond traditional products.

In addition, the local coconut sector can explore new markets through the CocoBridge Program, which aims to help small coconut producers access the UAE and wider GCC market by addressing production capacity, quality assurance, certifications, packaging, labeling, pricing, and other export requirements.

At the same time, stakeholders emphasized the need to strengthen the domestic market, where many small coconut farmers are currently more prepared to participate. Potential products such as coconut sugar, coconut-based food, beauty and health products, and virgin coconut oil were identified as having market potential. As of June 30, the National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS) had registered 3.049 million coconut farmers, including 2.59 million eligible for the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).

| Strengthening biosecurity, swine repopulation, market support, and other measures to address key challenges in the poultry and livestock sector were among the recommendations raised during the National Sectoral Committee on Poultry and Livestock (NSC-PL) and Agricultural and Fishery Council (AFC) Region 4B (MIMAROPA) Collaborative Dialogue-Meeting held on August 25–26, 2026, in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The activity brought together government agencies, LGUs, farmer organizations, industry stakeholders, and other partners to share experiences, discuss sectoral concerns, and identify practical actions to strengthen the region’s poultry and livestock industry.

The dialogue was followed by a field visit on August 27 to BAC Farm, the DA Dairy Production and Development Center, and FarmTeach Inc., providing participants with an opportunity to learn from local agricultural and livestock initiatives.

| Building on the initial leg held in Pampanga, the Mindanao A Participatory Performance Review and Planning Workshop is part of a nationwide series, with three more island-cluster consultations underway, to align local needs with national programs and projects.

More than 50 participants convened at the workshop, including AFC officers, provincial agriculturists, Department of Agriculture (DA) regional accounting and budget officers, and Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) technical staff.

Together, they gathered to assess past accomplishments and map out priority actions moving forward.

The Mindanao A cluster comprises Zamboanga Peninsula (ZamPen), Northern Mindanao, and the Caraga regions.

Participatory governance is a governing model where citizens, civil society, and grassroots communities actively participate in public decision-making, budgeting, and project monitoring, rather than leaving decisions solely to the government.
