The Committee on Senior Citizens conducted its 11th Regular Meeting on May 25, 2026, at the Women Legislatorsβ Lounge, House of Representatives, Quezon City, to discuss key matters concerning the welfare, dignity, and protection of Filipino senior citizens.
Among the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of the Committee Accomplishment Report for the First Regular Session of the 20th Congress, showcasing initiatives and legislative efforts dedicated to improving the lives of elderly Filipinos.
The Committee also offically turned-over
the βLabing-Dalawang Milyong Lagda para sa Matatanda,β a voluntary signature campaign led by various senior citizensβ organizations and advocates supporting the timely passage of the Universal Social Pension for senior citizens to House Speaker Faustino βBojieβ Dy III.
In his message, Speaker Dy also acknowledged the contributions and sacrifices of Senior Citizens for their families and the nation, βThat is why the Universal Social Pension is not simply about assistance β it is about dignity, gratitude, and compassion. Given the costs of
medicine, food, and health care, our seniors must be provided support to help them aο¬ord all of their basic needs.β
He added βBabantayan po natin ang Universal Social Pension bill, na ngayon ay
nakasalang sa Committee on Appropriations.β
The meeting reflected the continuing commitment of the Committee on Senior Citizens to promote inclusive policies and strengthen programs that uphold the rights, security, and well-being of Filipino senior citizens nationwide.
