The Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC), Armed Forces of the Philippines, and TimeZone Philippines strengthened their partnership through the signing of an agreement providing exclusive privileges and benefits to support AFP pensioners and their beneficiaries under the Helping Every Retiree Obtain Enhanced Services (HEROES) Program.

Under the partnership, TimeZone Philippines extends exclusive privileges to AFP Pensioners and their Beneficiaries, Active Military Personnel and their Dependents, and Civilian Human Resources, who may avail of the following benefits at participating TimeZone branches nationwide:

More significantly, TimeZone Philippines has expressed its intent to support the PGMC HEROES Program through the donation of amenities for AFP pensioners and their beneficiaries at the HEROES Lounge. The proposed support is envisioned to help make the HEROES Lounge a more welcoming and meaningful space where pensioners and beneficiaries can access services, spend time comfortably, and experience the continued care and appreciation of the institution they once served.

The partnership reflects a shared understanding that service to those who served the nation should continue beyond retirement. Through the HEROES Program, PGMC continues to build partnerships with organizations willing to extend not only benefits, but also meaningful gestures of gratitude and care to the AFP pension community.

The Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC), Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Makati Medical Center Foundation formalized their partnership through a Manifesto of Support Signing held on September 1, 2026, further strengthening efforts to provide meaningful support and enhanced services to AFP veterans, pensioners, and their beneficiaries.

The signing was led by Dr. Victor L. Gisbert, President of Makati Medical Foundation, and Commodore Luidegar C Casis PN, Chief, PGMC, AFP. The partnership forms part of PGMC’s commitment under its Helping Every Retiree Obtain Enhanced Services (HEROES) Program—an initiative dedicated to bringing responsive and compassionate services closer to the AFP’s retirees and pensioners.

More than a partnership, the occasion reflects a shared commitment to honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the nation. It reinforces the belief that service does not end with retirement, and that those who once served the country deserve continued care and support.

The 2nd VeteRun 2026: Takbo para sa Pensyonado was successfully held yesterday, July 25, 2026, at Freedom Park, Roxas Avenue, Davao City, bringing together military personnel, retirees, running enthusiasts, families, and supporters in a meaningful celebration of service, gratitude, and unity.

As one of the flagship initiatives under the HEROES Program (Helping Every Retiree Obtain Enhanced Services) of the Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC), AFP, VeteRun is more than a running event. It is a continuing commitment to honor our AFP retirees and pensioners, not only by recognizing their invaluable service to the nation, but also by encouraging a life of wellness, resilience, and active living long after retirement.

One of the most touching moments of the event was the recognition of Technical Sergeant Florante Santos Mallari, the oldest veteran in attendance and a former member of the Military Police during the Second World War. At nearly 102 years old, as he prepares to celebrate his birthday on August 25, 2026, TSg Mallari stood before everyone not merely as a guest of honor, but as a living testament to courage, perseverance, and the enduring rewards of living a healthy and purposeful life.

His remarkable journey reminds us that strength is not measured only by the battles we fight, but also by how we care for ourselves, our loved ones, and the values we carry throughout the years. His inspiring presence beautifully reflects the leadership philosophy of Commodore Luidegar C Casis PN: "Invest in Your Soul. Invest in Your Family. Invest in Your Health." These are not merely words, they are guiding principles that continue to shape the HEROES Program and inspire every initiative of the PGMC. Through VeteRun, we reaffirm that taking care of one's health is one of the greatest ways we can honor the life we have been given and continue serving our families, our communities, and our nation.
