READ | Why VMMC named its multi-purpose hall and theater after BASILIO J. VALDES 🇵🇭🩺🎖️

A doctor, soldier, and public servant, Major General Basilio Valdes (1892–1970) dedicated his life to serving the Philippines—from the battlefields of World War I and II to the nation’s healthcare system.

His legacy as a field surgeon, military leader, and advocate for Philippine healthcare continues to be remembered today. 📜

Basilio Valdes (1892-1970) was a doctor and soldier who was born in San Miguel, Manila. He finished his degree in Medicine at the University of Sto. Tomas (1916) and served in Europe as a volunteer doctor during World War I. He served as the Chief of the Philippine Constabulary (1934-1935), Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (1935-1945) and concurrently as Secretary of Department of National Defense (1941-1945). After the war, he served as Secretary of the Department of Health and Public Welfare (1945).

Major General Basilio Valdes left an admirable legacy as a WWI field surgeon, WWII military leader and a post-war public servant who championed improved Philippine healthcare.

He is NOT related to the singer Basilio Valdez.

DOH: PROTEKTAHAN ANG SARILI MULA SA BANTA NG HAZE AT MARUMING HANGIN!

Ayon sa pinakahuling ulat mula sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), kasalukuyang binabantayan ang kalagayan ng hangin dahil sa haze na nakakaapekto sa mga lugar sa National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon, CALABARZON, at MIMAROPA.

Ang observed haze ay posibleng sanhi ng usok at transboundary haze mula sa mga sunog sa Kalimantan, Indonesia na nadadala sa ating bansa dahil sa hanging habagat.

Paalala para sa mga pampublikong drayber, delivery riders, street vendors, at field workers na madalas nasa kalsada, sundin ang mga gabay at paalala mula sa DOH ngayong may haze. Tandaan, laging unahing protektahan ang iyong kalusugan!

Through this initiative, we hope to amplify authentic voices, foster greater understanding within our community, and help break the stigma surrounding mental health conditions.

Last Friday, the VMMC Medical Doctors Association gathered our medical doctors together in one room for a Bingo event and share some snacks - filling the air with fun moments and giving a chance to the participants to temporarily relax from their usual hustle, share a few laughs and enjoy some friendly competition.

Taking care of our heroes and their kins takes excellence, teamwork, and compassion. Behind every busy clinic day, rounds, and long day at the hospital are doctors who also need a breather, to connect, and enjoy.

Para naman sa LAHAT ng OB-GYN patients, maaari na ring mag-book ng ultrasound schedule online gamit ang nakatalagang QR code. 📲

👉 I-scan lamang ang tamang QR code sa larawan upang makita ang mga available na petsa at oras at makapag-book ng inyong appointment.

⚠️ Paalala: Ang online scheduling ay para sa regular na consultation at scheduled procedures lamang.
